Do these classes sound like it would be too much work?

Nah, 18 credits is reasonable.

Most important thing is making sure to manage your time properly. Use those multiple hours between classes to your advantage. And beware, sometimes 1 credit classes can give you more tedious work than a 4 credit one.

Writing - your professor will probably assign you a couple of writing assignments per week. Writing classes usually make you write a lot.

Ballet - you may or may not have homework depending on your professor. And even then, you'll probably be expected to just attend a ballet and write a report on it using what you learned in class. Non-performance dance classes usually don't have homework, at least in my experience.

World History - not really a lot of work in my exp, but there is a lot of reading. I had to read over 100 pages per week in my Japanese History classes, and that took up most of my time since there were a lot of words I didn't know or the author used sentences that were too complex for me to understand.

Japanese : if you're not already familiar with Japanese, it'll be a bit of work since you'll be expected to memorize and get quizzed on the kana syllabaries, learn and memorize vocabulary and grammar, etc. Beg. Japanese 1 was a snoozefest for me since I already knew hiragana and katakana and knew 80% of the vocab content due to having watched anime/Jdrama and picking up more words than your average weeaboo.

Music Literature: Don't know if it'll be the same with yours, but I took a class like this and we were required to do audio journaling assignments on top of reading about classical musicians/composers. We also had to attend two classical music concerts and write 2-5 page reports on them. You'll also probably be expected to know the difference between each classical music eras and their sound as well as distinguish between each musician and composer, which can be difficult if you don't have any former classical music background knowledge.

Sweet, music lit!

Though I'm entering the conservatory of music after my engineering, I studied different subjects on music and everything's awesome.

Well for me, that load could be distributed evenly to your ease. I guess time management's the key here. You can do it! But don't always push yourself that far, you may be focused on staying alive rather than learning at all haha (me lol)
