Why you should vote for Hillary for President of the United States (if you're 18)

I see a lot of support for Bernie Sanders on this forum and I also like him, as a person. But when it comes down to a choice for President, it's pretty clear who should be elected this November.

Anyone who has taken a course in economics knows

It's Hillary Clinton

1. Bernie wants to totally eliminate tuition. You cannot eliminate college tuition entirely. The costs will be too big; even if you tax big businesses. And with a Republican controlled house, good luck trying to pass any bill that comes close to Bernie's vision. Hillary wants to give grants to states that will guarantee students won't need loans to pay for college. That's a practical, realistic solution to the debt student's face.

But let's say his bill somehow passes... who do you think will be hurt by this tax on big businesses?....not the big bosses...

2. You can't break up the big banks. A lot of financial intermediaries and start-ups and big businesses need big, huge loans for R&D and other big project costs. Only big banks can afford to give out these massive loans. Even if you're not a supporter of businesses in financial sector... they are still...very much a part of the structure that supports any business in the U.S. Capping how large banks can be would not only put U.S. at a competitive disadvantage to some of the other nations in the world, it is also anti-capitalism.

3. Healthcare for all is just unrealistic. It sounds good to the ear though....but who's paying for it?

To sum it up. Hillary is a moderate...maybe progressive who will continue to enforce and support what Obama has fought for and won during this time as President. Her plans are realistic and not too lofty. American doesn't need major change right now. It's doing better than it did several years ago. We have to continue on this road that Obama has started and not completely overhaul the system.

So show your support for Hillary Clinton

So basically, we must vote for Hillary because people are too pessimistic and unwilling to spend money to improve the situation of people in their country...

If so many other western countries can finance Free college tuition and healthcare, why shouldn't the US, the richest of all Western countries be able to afford it?

Well that's the US' fault for fucking up your political system so much. Don't claim that it's financially unreachable to get free tuition and healthcare...the reason it's unreachable is because the US political system is filled with bitter, selfish people who would rather see the country burn than see the other party get what they want...that's why two party democracies don't work...

You haven't read much about other countries, have you??

It depends on the elasticity of the market. So yes, the "big bosses" could certianly be the ones paying for those taxes.

However, I do think that Bernie, if he becomes president, could go down the same path as Jimmy Carter (I believe they're both similar) and be disliked, while idiots with no regards for rights, like Reagan, are are held in high regards by many.

sorry, not into politics but can someone shed me some light on why hillary isn't liked? even @ school I hear people shaking their head @ hillary clinton lmao. I'm curious, is it because of her plans/ideas for the country if she becomes president? I heard good stuff about Bernie, on the other hand, classmates said things like "even though his plans are hard to execute, at least he has good intentions to all of it"

it's not about ability, but impact too...you have to do a lot of research on it...lots of boring stuff to go over, but just read this article:

Where do people get this idea that college should be free...?

I legitimately have read dozens of articles with this viewpoint, trying to understand it, and it still does not make any rational sense to me.  I would consider myself a Libertarian, and while, yes, I believe college is ridiculously overpriced, I absolutely do not think it should be completely paid for by the government.

Because Americans focus way too much on image of politicians and Hillary's a liar.

hehe i'm ignoring the stan oh my girl part cause i already do :3

1. "Bernie wants to totally eliminate tuition. You cannot eliminate college tuition entirely. The costs will be too big; even if you tax big businesses." First of all, Bernie is only trying to make college free at public universities. So the lofty ivies with $50,000 price tags aren't included in this. The cost of making public universities free is $75 billion dollars a year. This will be paid for by the Wall Street Speculation Tax, which will tax wall street speculators (of course hehe).

2. "And with a Republican controlled house, good luck trying to pass any bill that comes close to Bernie's vision." "Bernie has been called a “practical and successful legislator†and he was dubbed the “amendment king†in the House of Representatives for passing more amendments than any other member of Congress. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Bernie worked across the aisle to “bridge Washington’s toxic partisan divide and cut one of the most significant deals in years.â€"

3. On breaking up the banks: I would like to see a source about this line: "A lot of financial intermediaries and start-ups and big businesses need big, huge loans for R&D and other big project costs. Only big banks can afford to give out these massive loans."

4. On healthcare: He will pay for it through a 6.2 percent income-based health care premium paid by employers, a 2.2 percent income-based premium paid by households, progressive income tax rates, taxing capital gains and dividends the same as income from work, limiting tax deductions for the rich, adjusting the estate tax, and savings from health tax expenditures. https://berniesanders.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/friedman-memo-1.pdf

Idk, personally Hillary makes me very nervous as a candidate. You can feel free to vote for her, I hope you will at least read through all of Bernie's proposals and be well-informed before you do so.

Only voting for Hillary if she ends up getting the nomination because I don't want to imagine the prospect of Cruz or Trump being the president

Wish it was permissible for Obama to run for a third term instead :/

1. Bernie wants public colleges having free tuition, not all colleges. How he'll pay is by taxing the ultra wealthy and speculation. Idk what you mean about how Bernie won't be able to get bills passed bc it'll be also similar for Hilary. A lot of republicans hate her.

2.You say big banks are supporting institutions and stuff by giving out loans, but they're screwing over the common people (eg. the taxpayer bailout).  And, I mean, you can gets loans from more than one bank. And capping banks won't hurt, as it'll only encourage competition, which is what ideal capitalism tries to foster.

3. The ultra wealthy will pay for it, along with taxes.

edit: But there are so many more cons about Hillary?
