When as a child I found out that the shows and movies I was watching in french were all originally in english I started watching in english.  I also learned the lyrics of my favorite american pop songs. That's how I learned. I didn't learn shit at school cause english classes in France's school program are S H I T (in senior year of high school a guy in my course couldn't even pronounce "about" properly  :._.: ). I also spent 2years studying in London.

to speak? obviously not school, teachers have terrible methods here when we write and don't communicate...

hopefully my father speaks english a bit and I traveled a lot with him (road trips) or with friends. I lived abroad for a semester too.

watched a lot of british movies or series when growing up, their accent helpt tbh

I had to in school but I only really started to understand stuff and to get better at it when I began to read books in English. I didn't want to wait until the translation got out and it took Google trans and rereading it 3 or 4 times to understand sth but after that I got better and better~
