I hate how liking makeup, fashion and being "girly" always supposedly makes you some generic, boring, superficial girl. When did being feminine and girly turn into something negative Why do people act like being book-loving hipster makes them special or superior?

People can't like fashion and makeup without being interesting and book lovers?

I just hate how liking makeup, fashion and the color pink has turned into a negative thing, like other girls will smirk and roll their eyes at other girls who love shopping or painting their nails. Like, there's nothing wrong with loving those things, and not loving them doesn't make you special, different or superior.

OMG I so agreed. I hate this whole "basic b*tch" trend. I love the color pink and other girly things, and I don't want people rolling their eyes at me just because it's the "generic" thing to like.

I get a weird opposite reaction. I don't like wearing pink, but only because it looks terrible with my coloring. But people react as if I must hate girly stuff because of it. Like no, it just looks like shit on me.

I will say that it is easy to feel like this when EVERY GIRL AROUND YOU is into makeup/fashion etc...and you are the only one that isn't. Then you know what happens? They look down on YOU for not being a "regular girl".

I still get pressured to wear makeup or whatever by the women around me because apparently I need to look more presentable and makeup and "fashion" is the only way to do so.

So things like this is merely a response to situations like what I just explained. In fact, this picture seems quite accurate based on the circumstances I've been in. I'd rather spend time in some other things I find interesting than watching makeup tutorials and ordering a million lipkits or whatever they're called. And I am indeed made to feel "special" because of it. If I was a more insecure person, I'd probably have an issue.
