In Your Opinion, Who Are The 3 Greatest Bands That Ever Existed?

My Choices:

Bee Gees

"Let's talk about the Bee Gees. That's an iconic group. Not just a great band, but a great group of songwriters. Even long after the Bee Gees' success on the pop charts, they were still writing songs for other people, huge hit songs. Their talent went far beyond their moment of normal pop success. It is a loss to the music industry and a loss of an iconic group. The beauty of this industry is that we do pay tribute and every artist coming up is a fan of a generation prior to it, so there's a real tradition element to it".[97]

Sigur Rós

"Sigur Rós has long provided a sort of hymnal template for the secular masses. Those without spirituality or religion latch on to their music as much as believers for the transcendental window it seems to open. Their droning guitars seem to contain entire mythologies, Jónsi’s voice and uninterpretable lyrics as sort of tongues speaking bent on colonizing traditional experience with wonder."

N.W.A

"Although the group disbanded in 1991, they left a lasting legacy on hip hop music in the following decades. Their influence (from their funky, bass-driven beats to their exaggerated lyrics) was evident throughout the 1990s and even into the present, and is often credited as bridging the White/Black American musical lines with their massive appeal to White America in the late 1980s."

 yes they were the second band I remember being introduced to after Depeche Mode, and when I heard Forbidden Colours my soul was taken (I know it's not a Japan song and that it only features David Sylvian, but David Sylvian is life)

My dad gifted me the vinyl of Quiet Life when I was a kid telling me to listen to it. Life = changed. Tin Drum is like in my top 5 favourite albums of all time.

The first time I heard Forbidden Colours was as a B side to Red Guitar  :rlytearpls: My dad got me Brilliant Trees last Christmas. David Sylvian is love, David Sylvian is life.

Pretty much every obvious band that has been hugely influential has been mentioned, so I'll throw in some that I think also paved the way for a lot of the more current bands:
Smashing Pumpkins
Pink Floyd

The Strokes :rlytearpls:

Also have to mention Radiohead again because they are one of my top 5 favorite bands and because 33 Musicians Discuss Their Favorite Radiohead Songs - Stereogum

My personal favorites
The Beatles
Nirvana
Weezer

now for most influential, I'd say:
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Led Zeppelin

Yeeeeees Weezerrrrrrrrrr
