These guys treasure every award they get. That means it clearly means a lot to them. If folks cry when they get an award...it means something. SHINee and Jonghyun worked very hard. I'm glad for them. I'm glad for them. ^^ Thats exactly what i thought myself today. They celebrate EVERY SINGLE Award they get. Every week. But this Award is for the whole year. How it can be not important? And they finally win it for the first time. Again, how this can be not important? You get how much important this Award is, when U see Taemin crying. Taemin who never oppenly cries. And today he was crying. I was shocked tbh. When u working the whole year, as hard as they did, after car accidens and other injuries, and reseiving an more than well deserved Award for your hard work, how not to cry, how not important? An than after that all is Key unsure if they deserves the Award and Jjong apologize. just wow. The Awards ARE important for the Band AND their Fandom, who say its not important is lying! LOL I know that we may not think a certain award means much, but I've seen so many k-artistes get so emotional over them, it's a blatant disregard of their feelings to say otherwise. So I wouldn't call an award "irrelevant". I do however believe that awards should be reserved for music that's really good. Every artist works hard...but not every artist turns out quality music. It gets a bit annoying to hear ppl saying "oh they deserve it because they worked hard" and that's the only reason- in that case everybody should get an award. I will get upset if awards are given to music that's not up to par (imo at least lol)...especially if there are nominees that had better music, but maybe are not as popular. (I'm just that type lol) I may have not been a fan of SHINee's title singles this year...but they had other good tracks on the albums, also they are brilliant live. Honestly I don't care much about awards myself. As far as SHINee is concern they don't need a special award to prove they're successful or talented because they have plenty proof without imo. The main reason I wanted them to get a daesang is because it was something they wanted themselves and reading Jonghyun tweet I now understand why. Even with the big sales, filled stadiums with thousands of screaming fans and all the praise from those around them I guess there's just something about having a physical, tangible, I can hold it in my hand token of all their efforts and that grand acknowledgement that they maybe didn't fall short of whatever expectations they felt they had after all because from Jjong's it's seems they really had thoughts and feelings like that...feeling that they've fell short compare to their sunbaes and now probably even a hoobae like Exo seeing as they all manage to grab daesangs much sooner then SHINee did in their careers. Thinking about it now I'm actually glad their 1st Daesang (if only one ever) was for Artist of the Year. Truthfully SHINee have never been known for their sales high as they may be. There claim to fame has always been from their ability to consistently present quality music and performances to the masses and that's exactly why Melon awarded them Artist of the Year.
