We're not talking about what you think of her here - it's her impact and relevancy which is undeniable, for whatever argument you want to give, she's still everywhere and she's close to being a legend, give her a few years and she definitely will be remembered as one.

 

I think she's an incredibly smart businesswoman who knows how to make her way through the industry, she's very talented, 1989 and her previous albums are enough proof of her talent, yet I know 1989 is not even her best. She just did a Pop record to establish herself as who she is today, the biggest pop star that there currently is.

 

If we're talking about opinions, I don't Kanye should even be respected in the industry, he's messy and doesn't know limits, thinks the world loves him because that's what people have been feeding him his entire life so now he believes he's God while he really isn't much of a talent.

The album's lyrics aren't the deepest around, yet, why do they need to be? She made enjoyable, mindless pop music that she knew the GP likes. I don't think it's generic at all, I think the album is a good collection of variation on Pop music while remaining consistent. She doesn't need to go full on experimental to make a good album.

Generic pop music doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, just because she doesn't make culturally deep music doesn't mean she sucks. The industry is tough and she knew how to make herself rise, that's praise-worthy.

I think you and I just have a different idea of what a genius artist is, as none of what you stated suggests she is one imo.
