I think the assumption is some of the guys in the story MV may be members of that group. Nothing else has really been mentioned since that picture was tweeted a few months back so we're all still in the dark.

[Announcement] Some bad news.

 

Unfourtunately, Crayon Pop have been involved in a scandal. They are currently ranking first in real time search on Naver and Daum search portals, due to the fact that netizens suspect the Chrome CEO and one of the Crayon Pop members to be a member of the Korean site ILBE.

ILBE is a controversial Korean social site (kind of like 4chan) that favors right-wing political opinions. The reason why simply following ILBE is regarded as bad is that they openly support Korea’s past dictator and call democratic movement a riot, and they have been involved in criminal activity in the past.

Netizens originally suspected the CEO due to the fact that he used ILBE slang in one of his tweets.

You may remember that Secret’s Hyosung was caught up in a similar scandal a few weeks ago over her misuse of the word ‘democratization’, leading netizens to suspect her of being affiliated with ILBE.

Unfourtunately I cannot provide any more information until I become aware of it, but this is just a heads up. This may blow over into nothing, or may become a big issue. We’ll have to wait and see.

Honestly, I'm excluding the noise marketing angle and looking at it from the other side. 

 

 

 

The timing of this is very suspicious... right as they're making their first (proper) comeback since Dancing Queen. It's almost like somebody or some particular element is trying to damage them for whatever reasons.

 

The 'scandal' involving the girls is logically a non event - in the context of what was being tweeted, it doesn't make sense for their words to be interpreted in any sort of negative manner. As for the CEO tweet, I have reason to believe that that may have been made back around March. So, it's just been sitting there offending nobody and drawing no attention for what? about 100 days - only to be brought up now as proof of something...

 

And all that ignores the fact that the netizen who broke this scandal would surely have to be a regular Ilbe reader themselves, otherwise they wouldn't be able to identify the slang used there and accuse somebody of using it.

 

 

 

I'd prefer to see this all blow over asap, the only positive is they've had the same amount of views in 2 days on a practice video as Skarf have had in 3 weeks on their latest MV.

 

If I could hit reset on this weekend right now, I would tbh.

The song is so catchy and the outfits and choreo are the most awesome I have ever seen in kpop (excluding T-ara's Bunny Style, which was made for Japan).

No wonder the asshat knetizens are trying to bring them down...
