For fans of new groups, what made you become STANS of them all of a sudden?

prior to you stanning hard for groups like 17, Twice, RV, Lovelyz, what was the reason you went hard for these new groups?

was it because there was a period of time (2013-2014-ish) that there wasn't much happening and you felt the new group you now follow was promising?

was it because you grew over the group you used to stan? was it because you never stanned hard for a group until now?

------------------------------------

for me, i wasn't one of "those fans" who went crazy and followed a groups activities day in and day out. i followed groups like snsd, apink, secret, t-ara, etc. but it was mostly when they were promoting.

then for like the period between 2013 to late 2014, i grew out of kpop... the music wasn't doing it anymore... but before i grew out of it, i did remember baby soul and that woollim was going to form a group that was going to have her in it... so i got back slightly around late 2014, during CJL promotions and it was coincidence? that lovelyz just made their debut. i was attracted to the group because i knew a group that had baby soul in it was going to do well. i loved the charms the group showed. i loved how there were so many amazing and talented singers in the group. and i loved the song CJL.. they gave me hope in kpop again.

then i started opening the kpop door again and slightly followed all the girl group comebacks that came afterwards... one of which was the debut of oh my girl. when the teasers came, i was thinking...here's another group with a cute concept that's been done before... but then the more i listened to cupid, the more i liked it. the sound was a little different... it was very anthem-based... there is a loud drumline that runs through the entire song and i was hooked. then i saw someone who kept sharing a hyojung instagram (back when you could embed instagram posts into your signature) and i fell in love. then i found out about the other tracks on the albums and instantly loved their sound. i saw the girls and they fit everything i wanted in a group: beauty, great music, underdog-attachment, different sound... and i fell hard for them.

i can go more in depth...but let's just leave it at that for now.

so what made you a stan of the rookie group you now stan?

Red Velvet: I stanned Red Velvet because I usually support SM groups, they were promoted for a short time as SM Rookies(before SM caught us off guard and debuted them), their comebacks, their music, and all the members were simply lovely. Especially Irene. Because I share the same name as her  (FAN)

Twice: I didn't know that I was going to like Twice, I watched their comeback and I was like "They're really good...look at all those pretty girls!" but didn't care much for them until the last two months ago. I decided to give them a try and listened to their full album once, I didn't feel any pazaaz for any of the tracks except for Ooh-Ahh-Hage. I listened to them again the next day, AND EVERY SINGLE SONG. EVERY SONG! YAAAAAS B, YAAAAS! It grew fast on me! I listen to their album all the time now! (FAN)

NCT: I don't know if this counts, since it wasn't all of a sudden but for the rookie group that just debuted, NCT, I had been following them as SM Rookies since around December of 2013 when their first few promotions started. I am bound to stan them if they debuted, which they diiiiid! (STAN)

Lovelyz: One of my best friends is in love with Lovelyz, she's been waiting for them for their debut too since her favorite company is Woolim ENT. Back when I stanned Infinite, I was also excited for their new girl group to debut when I saw Ji Ae in one of the boys reality shows. I don't stan, I'm just a fan. My friend and I dance to their songs, I accept her loving Lovelyz, we sing to Lovelyz songs. (SEMI-FAN)

Well, I was a stan of sr15/16b for a while. Hansol, Johnny and Ten caught my eyes. I thought that Hansol was mysterious, Johnny was light-hearted and was (putting in bluntly here) attractive and could speak English, and Ten was very cheerful and funny along wit Johnny and was great at dancing. I stanned sr15b for the good quality, catchy music they put with their difficult choreography that the members had to dance to in perfect sync. I was just really impresse and looing forward to their debut.

Fast forward to present day. Not a fan of 7th Sense, coul dhae been much better but hey atleast the choreography was good. Not as upbeat as Bassbot though. And Hansol and Johnny haven't debuted yet either. But Without You is great! So I stan the vocal line now. I gues you could say I'm an NCT stan rn because of the talent that sr15b had.

Lugate happened. I dropped EXO, left Kpop for awhile, came back and figured I should follow as many groups as I could. I followed Lovelyz for awhile, realized that girl groups aren't for me so I dropped them. Red Velvet debuted and although I don't stan the group, I really do like them a lot. Then Seventeen happened and I was hooked because catchy tunes, talent and Jeonghan's hair. Day6 because I really love their music. NCT because I've casually followed them since 2013 and I generally prefer SM boy groups to other company boy groups.

I found in Oh My Girl all I loved into my past fave groups, I didn't pay attention to their debut cause I was thinking that was a simple cute concept again... And then begining of October, the teaser of "closer" comes. And I was like  :omg: , is it the same group ??? So before the release of Closer, I checked everything about them, and fall in love of 3cupid" & "hot summmer nights"  :lub: + I saw in the member a huge potential, and I think I'm not wrong. This girls can be an amazing group, they have all, vocals, dance, synchro, concept, visual & friendly. This is what I love about them basically ^^

was it because you grew over the group you used to stan? was it because you never stanned hard for a group until now?

Now that I think about it, this did happen. The only group I stanned that was still active was SNSD, but I had grown out of them after Jessica left. I couldn't really get excited by any other group.

Then I started stanning Oh My Girl (because I'm a sucker for cute girls) -> then Seventeen (that is now my favorite idol group - still not sure how this happened, I'm NOT into boyish groups  :imstupid: ) -> now NCT (because 7th sense if effing amazing).

I stan lovelyz, it just happened. Because of lovelyz I lost interest towards boy groups except infinite. And of course, Jisoo's scandal. The more hate people throw to lovelyz, the more I love and want to.protect them. Yes, I'm that dedicated fan and this is my first time stanning a girl group that hard. I'm a bg trash before :)

I only really got into Kpop in October but what made me like all these new kpop groups were that they were all my age and the fact that there all so pretty, talented, and doing something with their lives while I am doing nothing. If they have pretty good music and are visually appealing to me!
