almost 1 month since The Velvet came out, so opinions would been less biased by now. How good is The Velvet?

sounds good, has its originality, but a little bit basic in the end. SM could've done many things with the last chorus, yet they decided to let RV just sing it together - end

Cool hot sweet love: 5/5

it's just perfect. The whole song was built around a simple 12 notes at the beginning (funny some of the lyrics are also related to it). it's easy to catch up, yet doesn't sound basic at all. The girls' vocals also add up to the perfection of the production. I could give it 1000000000000/10 and sacrifice my hairpin to make it the title track instead of OOTN

Light me up: 2/5

a perfect example of overproduction. It sounds too busy most of times, and worse, some vocal layers just don't match at all. I appreciate some nice moments in the song, but tbh 2/5 is quite generous from me

First Time: 4/5

sounds like a nice SNSD ballad. It's nice but nothing special

Rose Scent Breeze: 5/5

vocal lines should have a prize for this. They made it their own song. Compare to LSM's original version, this one is a huge upgrade: better music, better vocals, awesome harmonization, and on top of that, it sounds Red Velvet

OOTN De Capo remix: 1.5/5

sounds nice til that fucking scream. It ruins everything

OOTN Joe Millionaire remix: 3/5

nice one but nothing memorable. It's like OOTN with Automatic's beat style

OOTN Piano ver: 5/5

it sounds better than the original one. RV also said this one is OOTN's first version, then SM added up RnB beats. Idk why they do it, but if they choose sth which destined to flop like OOTN, they should just go bolder with releasing this version. It suits their vocal and the song's mood better than random beatdrops

 

Overall:

- As 5 tracks: 4/5

- As 8 tracks: 3.7/5 (-1 for too repetitive (4 OOTN versions) +0.5 for nice ending => 3.2/5)

that's just my opinion. I tried bringing myself to listen to LMU as many as i can (cuz WenSeul really like it) but it's just not my type of song   It has its nice moments, but overall i see myself click the "next" button quite many times

Loved the first three song with CHSL as my favorite of the album and only behind Automatic in their overall discography. The Album lose steam starting from first time while it and rose scented breeze aren't bad they don't wow me. Don't care for OOTN remakes but wont hate the album for throwing them in. Still got a normal number of new songs.
