How do you manage your food cravings?

I try to eat healthy throughout the day but I have a MAJOR sweet tooth. Like really bad. And as soon as I finish dinner I start craving - ice cream, pocky, chocolate, cake...

I try to satiate it by eating fruit (because it's sweet) but it DOESN'T help ;_; Then I give in and start snacking, and tell myself that it'll be my last night snacking and that tomorrow I'd start anew LOL. Then I proceed to snack late into the night, past midnight. It's a really bad cycle and I wake up very bloated..

Do you guys have any specific methods of curbing those cravings? Especially at night after dinner? I'm usually good in the daytime. And this is even worse when boredom strikes/I have no school or work and am off for the day on youtube and watching dramas...

You have to first focus on eating less snacks day by day. Don't cut yourself off or the cravings will make you eat twice the junk food (happened to me). I completely cut off junk food and fast food when I was training to get into the military, but a few months later my cravings got really bad and I was eating more sweets than I ever had before. It took a few years to realize that I was allowing the food to control my life. I started eating less sweets, then going every other day, etc. Nowadays I'll eat junk food once in a while out of habit, but I don't really crave them any longer.

usually by drinking something sweet. i prefer vitamin water because it's not high in sugar and it's satisfying.

it also helps if you don't have any snacks to begin with.

another thing to do is distract yourself, the more you think about snacking the hard it is to get rid of the cravings.

instead of going cold turkey, try to telling yourself you won't eat past a certain time.

however, don't worry, it happens to all of us. we all give in at some point and just snack late into the night, the key is to compensate

for the extra calories by exercising =)

I just don't buy shit that I know i'm going to overeat honestly. Obviously if you live with other people that's impossible to control but it really helps if you can avoid getting it in the first place. When it's in the house I just tell myself that I don't need it. I've gotten halfway through snacks many times and ended up just throwing the rest in the trash to avoid eating it. I also tell myself every day that i'm not going to give in to cravings. Even if I had a bad day the day before. Keeping a positive mindset is important. It's really just one of those things that gets easier and easier the more you resist cravings. Some of this might sound silly but it worked for me.

I have a drink instead, try and distract myself, eat something small and low in calories and preferably high in protein to help keep me satisfied longer, and remind myself that if I gave into cravings every time, I'd be back to where I was and hating my body.
