A new trailer for the highly anticipated film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" was released worldwide on Thursday with Chinese actors Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen making appearances.

The trailer gave fans a first glimpse of the new "Star Wars" film and it was the first time that Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen ("Ip Man") and mainland actor-and-director Jiang Wen ("Let the Bullets Fly" and "Devils on the Doorstep") appear in costume. Jiang looks like he plays a resistance fighter while Yen seems to play a Chinese Kung Fu master-styled warrior.

They are the first Chinese actors to play major roles in the "Star Wars" universe.

To please Chinese audiences and establish a stronger connection with people, producer Kathleen Kennedy revealed in Shanghai at the Chinese premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in December 2015 that they "play wonderful characters and certainly there are many mythologies inside Chinese literature that I know we can explore in the future and find ways in which we can integrate some of those stories into the 'Star Wars' universe."

America isn't playing with their want of breaking into the Chinese box office... It's kind of funny how subtle the more "diverse" Hollywood is trying to be, but I wonder if people are going to be as angry as when there were black characters added into the last one.

Chinese Box Office is growing so fast. It gonna overtake NA next year. Many C-actors is involving in HLW projects. I hope diversity will happen more & more. Tired of White superheroes.

I more hoping that Chinese film/TV industry can catch up to hollywood in terms of quality and starts to distribute their products internationally rather than settle for a few token roles in hollywood.

I hope so. I'm confident that day will come soon. It just need some times.
