SEOUL, April 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean TV series "Descendants of the Sun" has beaten its own viewership record for six episodes in a row, data showed Thursday.

The KBS 2TV drama captured 33.5 percent of viewers across the country on Wednesday, up 0.5 percentage points from the previous episode, data by Nielsen Korea showed.

In Seoul, where viewership has been greater, 37.5 percent of TV homes tuned into the state broadcaster's entertainment channel between 10 and 11 p.m., up 0.9 percentage points from last week.

In episode 13, actor Yoo Ah-in from the 2015 South Korean movie "Veteran" makes a cameo as a representative of a bank where Dr. Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo) goes to take out loans. Kang goes there after submitting her resignation letter to the head of her hospital because she wants to start her own business.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. You were eligible when you were a VIP physician-professor at Haeseong Hospital. Right now, you're just an aspiring entrepreneur with a medical license," Yoo, whose name tag reads his real name, Eom Hong-sik, tells Kang.

"Then what do I do?" Kang, visibly distressed, asks. With a deadpan expression, Yoo responds curtly, "How would I know that... Next in line, please."

The episode ends in a cliffhanger in which Army Capt. Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) gets shot during a spy agency operation. Kang, who is on call that night as a punishment for threatening to quit her job, receives him as a patient in the emergency room.
