How do Korean girls achieve that thin layer of moisture look?

When I was travelling in Korea, or watching Korean YouTube beauty channels, I noticed many Korean girls have really moisturized skin (kinda like having a thin layer of water on their face).

Example - Pony's Beauty Diary:

How can I achieve that? What products should I use? I tried Googling this, and I could never figure out how. Thanks!

I mean if you watch that video, Pony teach you how to achieve that look.

But overall, it is by using a moist foundation, and to moisturize your skin well before applying makeup. You can also mix a couple of drops of facial oil to the foundation before applying. If you have oily skin, only use powder on your oily zone and not all over your face.

idk, good skin care and good skin tbh you can't have that with pimples all over your face *cries because i know the struggle*

I see... What really surprises me is how their skin is naturally like that even before she applies anything. Maybe it's really just sweat... Damn this Canadian dryness.

Really? I saw a PONY video and while I was impressed by her skills (they are INSANE), I was surprised to ee that her skin wasn't flawlessly perfect as I have been taught to expect. Not aying that's a bad thing, it's just that after seeing years of "no makeup" pictures I was a little surprised at some of her skin problems.

Also yeah, I just use a tinted moisturizer for Canadian winters, and I've found it helps in getting that "dewy" look. There's no way to get away from all this dryness

actually if you watch her other videos, her bare skin has some blemishes and can be quite dry sometime.

If you live in a dry and cold place, Korean skin care can really work for you because they are all about hydration since Korea is pretty cold too. If you want more moisturized skin, you can adopt the Asian/Korean skin care routine which consist of multiple light layer of hydrators instead of one fat thick moisturizer. Because when it's dry, your skin lack humidity and not oil, so putting on thick/ heavy moisturizer doesnt really help because they are more skewed on the oil to water ratio. You can try adding in lotion with lots of humectant (like Japanese lotion, Hada Labo or other brands), hydrating essences, and sheet mask before sealing in with a thick moisturizer. You can check reddit asian beauty thread or PM me if you are interested to learn more.

i advised you to look up the the reddit asian beauty thread because people there has a lot of reviews about these asian products, and they can help you out based on your skin type too. Best of luck, and remember to always start slow. If you try to start using too many products at once it might give you negative effect. And good luck

HELLO FELLOW CANADIANS

I understand the pain of dry skin but what I do in the winter is juut pile essence and moisturizer on, and then I do a face mask once a week. Idk bout dewy look since Im not a fan of it but i dont think i get the dewy look for my make up...but it's not matte...so maybe I do O_O, a lot of Korean make up products do have it ^_^ I use the Hada labo lotion  before putting these products on and it's totally great :) so yes, like SugaJam said, asian skincare piles stuff on. It really helps with my dryness.

Sucky part is that I've oily skin too. So my skin is in a constant switch between dry and oily, so I've to be extra careful with what products I use. But I'll definitely check it out. I've been using the Taiwanese brand My Beauty Diary and it has been okay, but I definitely haven't achieved that healthy dewy look yet :(

omg i can't breathe

Hahaha I died at that too lol

I have combination skin that's sensitive ! So oily t-zone >_< what I've done so far seems to be working and I also exfoliate once a week. My t-zone, im more acne prone there, but I don't think that I am shiny from the oil. I am more dry than oily though...

Best of luck!

I hate that dewy look as I have combination oily skin. But to answer your question, dewy look can be achieved with primers and setting sprays. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there are so-called dewy effect foundation available in the market as well.

Interesting, I'm heading to Asia end of this year, so I'm going to rob their drug stores and beauty stores for products :) I will keep that in mind, I've never heard of that before...  :ahmagah:

I don't live in Asia so I'm not sure about the type of makeup they have there... kudos to your trip to Asia (I'm dying with envy here!) and I hope you find the stuff you're looking for.

Also, you might want to check out Jacqlyn Hill on youtube. She's one of the youtubers, I believe, who's fond of this dewy look. She recommends some stuff on how to achieve it as well on her monthly favorites.

Seriously, you should go to Asia!! This is not my first time going, but if you book early and do Airbnb, it could be somewhat affordable. I have to book now for my October trip to get tickets below $1,000.
