Why are TVXQ's best selling albums the ones when they were 5 members?

no,

TVXQ as 5 were considered gods.

and their fandom suffered a lot when the group separated in  2-3.

the inner fandom wars and the blames on one or the other made most of the fandom divided

which divided sales a lot as well

if TVXQ would release 1 album as 5 again, Cassies would be all over it once again.

my opinion

i suggest reading some info on TVXQ because that will answer to many future potential questions on the group.

Isn't Tone their best selling album in Japan? I could be mistaken.

Well, I think because when they were five members, they were at their peak. They were getting bigger and bigger, but then JYJ left. Most of the time, when a group splits like that their popularity isn't exactly the same. (I'm not bashing them because they're my ultimate bias group in kpop). I still remember how fans reacted when the lawsuit happened. It was like Homin fans vs Jaechunsu fans then there were the fans that wanted to have faith in five (Always keep the faith) and then there were fans that just left the fandom all together. It can be tough for a group when they loose members, especially in the way that TVXQ did.

Well, they were a lot younger back then and hadn't been around for as many years as they have now.  I mean even with the fandom split, TVXQ and JYJ have sold really well (even when they had a lack of promotion), they're just past their peak unfortunately. Plus it's tough on a group when a fandom splits. Honestly though, every group is bound to sell less as time progresses.  It's only natural.

Exactly how I feel

Because they were a pretty young group then. It was their peak. It's the same with other SM boy groups.

Exactly my thoughts.

I've never believed the break up rumours back then. It was impossible to me that a group that was at his peak, both in korea and japan, will disband. I used to tell people not to worry that it was just rumours. Ha! :rlytearpls:
