Star Empire Girls

I'm confused as to why they're promoting them so heavily as a 3-piece when we know the group will have more members

I'm assuming to keep up interest and by maintaining interaction with fans while they are preparing. Keeping up fan interest before debut will be good especially for preserving the popularity gained from P101. But I understand why they would want to keep up a bit of mystery about the other members because it builds up to the big reveal of the whole group.

HIIII!! I just joined onehallyu, only to follow this thread about my girls   :chu: Nice to meet you everyone  :hoplz:

 Hello!!!

Makes sense, but it's potentially risky. I love the dynamic the 3 of them have both on and off stage and vocally, their harmonies are delightful as a 3-piece too. It'd be a shame if the new members changed that.

I really do love these 3 though, so I'm hoping for the best.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the whole group environment will be like since I've become so accustomed to just the three of them together.

Thinking about the way a lot of debuts have been going lately, I'm kind of glad Star Empire isn't rushing the girls' debut. I think they started to rush it when there was more pressure to but the rumors of when the debut is have calmed down and right now they've just been playing around with the fans. Obviously, they'll be debuting soon because they've been practicing, but they aren't being rushed out.

I think the group will obviously have a cute concept but from what we can see only from the SHY dynamic, it will be more unique than the very similar cute innocent girl group style a lot of the debut/comebacks have had. They give a cute but soulful impression to me. Also, if there is anything positive I can honestly say about SE, I genuinely like the music they choose for their groups (particularly 9m)

So basically, even though I'm impatient and I want them to reveal more about members, concept, when they'll debut, I'll be satisfied with waiting if it means they'll come out with a nicely done concept instead of more generic rushed ones that have come out recently. I'm hoping they actually put work into getting them out into the media and gaining public curiosity in them instead of just throwing them out there.

Totally agree. What i like so far is that at least they do vlive regularly to keep fans in the loop of how they are doing while trying to maintain the interest of fans be it existing or new ones. And its also good that at least from what i see SE are not trying to make hyeri outshine the other 2(yun ji and si hyeon) even thou all 3 took part in produce 101 and hyeri being the more popular one.

I agree. One of the most annoying things I've seen with the newly debuting groups is that the companies are pushing the members who are popular from p101. Even though Hyeri is the most known right now, SE are actively showing them all off and thats really good because now all three of them have sizeable fanbases instead of everything depending on one popular member's fanbase.

Also, I wish they would promote Chaeeun too but I would understand why they are waiting to officially "reveal" the new members (even though we know she was there for the guerrilla concert too).

Wow I didn't know about this, it looks like a dream group

At first it was a just group concept made up by fans for fun but I guess Loen decided to make it a real project.

How many members will the group have?

As of now its only confirmed that Yunji Hyeri and Sihyeon will be in the group. Chaeeun joined SE after leaving Starship so its an obvious assumption that she'll be in the group, but SE hasn't started promoting her with SHY yet (its very likely that the OMZM label is just for SHY -- the new group may have a new name possible)

There is also a rumored trainee who's been spotted a few times (Dawon).

So, for as for now 3 members are confirmed, the group will at least be 4 or so members when you add Chaeeun, but some ppl believe that there will be 5 or more members.

Well as much as i don't like SE's way of managing or marketing/promoting methods for any of their groups, i have to admit that they really have an eye for recruiting talented/unique trainees.. the trainees they have seem to always be unique enough to attract people to take note of them despite not being under any of the big 3 company.

I agree. I also feel like the music their groups make is pretty good(mainly thinking of 9m since I've only listened to a tiny bit of their other groups' music) in comparison to a lot of companies where the groups are more popular but the music itself is not that great.

The problem is they have all these gems but they just like...dont seem to really know how to promote them so they can't get beyond a certain point you need to get past to become more publicly recognized. I keep holding on to this hope that OMZM will be the game changer for SE and they'll start really trying their best to get them out there. They have the benefit of having known trainees who already have fans who are just waiting for their debut, I really really hope they don't waste it.

Yup the music SE boy/girl groups deliver has always been great but it's just not having the strong huge fan base that is not doing them the favor.

Main things SE needs to do is to

1) Avoid members leaving/changing like nothing for the new generation of groups they have (IMFACT & OMZM in this case). Proper treatment of the group members and planning to avoid such cases from happening. - people tend to avoid supporting/stanning groups that have members come and go so often,

2) their marketing/promoting should not just target the koreans/japanese but rather also other international audience like China/Thailand etc where many Kpop groups are trying to break into since that's where the big money is coming from. They need to also have subbers to help sub their mvs/shows for international audience.

3) Try to get the boys/girls to appear in as many TV shows(drama/variety etc) to ensure the public is constantly reminded of their existence. But of cos not at the expense of overworking them.

4) Try to get them to be spokesperson for as many CFs as possible regardless how popular the product is.

I agree. For #2 though, they also shouldn't disregard their promotion in Korea, since a lot of problems with some groups is that their companies spend so much effort promoting them in other places that they lose whatever public acknowledgement they were gaining in Korea and that usually hurts the group. They should build up a solid, strong public reputation in a Korea so that when they promote in other places its not like they just disappear (ex. Nu'est was becoming popular with their song Hello, but Pledis made them start promoting a lot more in Japan and China instead of trying to increase their popularity in Korea and now that popularity they developed kind of faded away).

Also for 4 they really should just do that a lot. Using SNSD as an example, when they were first getting public notice, they became the spokespeople for Goobne Chicken, which at the time was like a tiny little brand and then they literally rose the sales of Goobne Chicken up so much that now Goobne Chicken is super well known. It doesnt matter if its a popular product or brand, because you never know if it will one day become popular.

For groups that's not under the big 3 especially girl groups,it's normally harder for them to build a strong fan base in Korea so the alternative is to build a huge international fan base first as priority while of cos maintaining interest in Korea. After all they need the money(which many comes from international fans) to sustain in this business against the big 3 that can easily churn out groups after groups with over kill marketing.

As for cfs, so far I see the delight 18 product which hyeri is a spokesperson for seems to be doing pretty well. In Instagram you can see alot of people who bought that product even hashtagging hyeri.so they should definitely not waste the potential these girls have.

Yeah I remember when she first started being the spokesperson there was like a huge amount of views and comments on her video on the delight18 facebook compared to others.

I don't know how SE could waste them but I'm just hoping they don't manage to do it anyway. I hope their song is unique and keeps the style they already have going for them.
