Kpop used to be my stress reliever but now it is getting kinda toxic

I will never understand stans who neg even facts. I understand people negging opinions they disagree with (I got negged to death by Yoona stans when I commented I had high expectations of her Mandarin because of the thread titled her as fluent - I then shared my opinion that she was impressive, but she still isn't 'fluent' but more of conversational imo) that was an opinion and I am totally okay with people negging that especially if they disagree.

But I got negged for a reply where i translated what a kpop group said in an interview like wth. Seriously? Are kpop fans nowadays THAT sensitive? Also some people think sharing negative opinions = attacking their bias. Expressing thoughts = complaining. Any 'fan' who says something negative is a fake fan for sure...or a troll.....right?

Seriously kpop is my way of destressing from real life with like minded people who share the same interest. If kpop fans will always feel threatened or over defend their idols with the slightest hint of shade and criticism (which might even not be shade or criticism to begin with)...i feel it sucks out all the fun in kpop. I have been a kpop fan since tvxq's rising sun era but it is only now im experiencing fans getting irked by the smallest hint of shade (that may or may not be there).....Nowadays we even need to be extra careful in throwing around kpop jokes lest you get attacked by their fans....i dunno kpop as a hobby just feels more stressful now......i just want it to be as free flowing and fun again like the days when most kpop discussions were still in soompi and livejournal some years back.....

On a sidenote tho...im really impressed by how chill sohye fans are handling the haters lol

yeah people are like that. Especially with not differentiating hate speech and a opinion. I no longer care about my rep tho, i am actually pretty nice person (i really am haha) well but... i wasn't really around here old times but it really gets on my nerves sometimes. I try not to care though.

Not Kpop, the forum. Stay off the site if its that stressful

But when i read the comments sections of current kpop sites it is not that different tbh :(

If you can't handle the forum and people disagreeing with you then you should probably switch to a fandom centric twitter or tumblr setting

Not just OH, i really meant international kpop sites in general

Honestly I think it's quite contradictory that you are claiming the fans here are sensitive considering the way you are reacting to them now...

Just spend time in the official threads of your faves, they tend to be nicer

hm ive been part of kpop fandom since 2007ish and its always been pretty negative to me.  i rmbr being on forums n seeing ppl being really gross and shit about henry (this ws when only13 was huge) and snsd and the like.  but i suppose it has gotten worse.  sites like kpkf, nb, koreaboo, etc, have risen during that time and are pretty big sources for ifandom and they mostly stick to negative things/things that would definitely start drama.  idt they're solely to blame, but idt they help either..

It isn't just an OH thing, I just cited the above because it is my own experience....if you read comments on youtube, LJ, its no different....

Also i did mention in my OP im ok with negs regarding opinion because i fully know that 1) im human and things i say are flawed 2) people are free to disagree....

Netizenbuzz comments give me a migraine tbh....but kpop is my only legit hobby outside real life and i have been with it for 11 yrs now....

:(

Things were bad back then but there was a pretty bold line on who the haters and fans are, but nowadays fans easily get suspicious on who fake fans are that it tends to be uncomfortable....you become too careful lest they tag you as such

Don't give up on Kpop itself because that's not the problem. When I first entered Kpop I stuck to myself for the first couple of years. I didn't read comments or interact with other fans.

Someone said go to the artists threads, that's a great idea. In those you will find like minded people who can hod a conversation about the things that you like. People in AT don't play when it comes to bashing. So you can feel safe there and avoid unnecessary hate.

Google Kpop or Korean music and it pulls up sites where you can find kpop or korean music. There's even online internet radio stations for this kind of music.

Kpop is always full of trash talk to me ever since i followed Kpop as a Sone,  it's indeed getting more & more exhausted tho but i think it's just because i'm (we're) just getting old

Your gen had it bad imo.....that was when the really bad fanwars begun

When i entered kpop it was relatively peaceful with rain, hyori, boa, seven, shinhwa, ss501 and tvxq regining.....there were debates among intl fans but not to the degree that begun to develop starting 08 onwards.....

ahh i see what you mean now... yea.  it's sad.  i think bc there's just so many trolls who cosplay as fans these days to bring hate to a group, people are just overly defensive & assume everyone who shares smth slightly negative about their favs are just trolls/antis.  it's not right but that's just how it is right now :(

someone above suggested sticking to artist threads and that's a good idea.  most threads have a no-negging rule (maybe all of them do idk) but it's a good place to express ur opinions/post things w.o backlash that might not be taken as well out in the general threads.

Especially me since i have no kpop fan friends irl....the only way to discuss it is with kpop fans online

The thing is i prefer discussing it neutrally.....so i might really express my opinion but others immediately tag you as a troll when your just genuinely curious what other people think regarding that topic but people immediately think you just wanna stir trouble....

What strikes me now is fans want to win debates and prove theyre right while in the past its more about reasoning out your points and just sharing your opinion.....

You could do what some people do. They will leave their thoughts and opinions out there but only respond to people worth responding to. You don't have to respond to everybody that quotes/replies to you.

Just don't worry about negs and replies. I often ignore people when they quote me with some nonsense and I don't notice if I get neg unless I re-visit a thread for some reason. It's pretty useless to worry about those things and think about other fans being too sensible.

I think you just need to recognize when you're dealing with delusional fans that will defend anything vs. someone more rational with whom you can have a conversation.

Personally, I prefer to stay on my faves official thread here and in other social networks I also only check stuff about my faves and ignore the rest.

It's just a hobby so if it isn't entertaining anymore you should back off from it.
