Hello! I'm enjoying Hwarang so far, hoping it continues to do well.

---

I got a question

[kind of a spoiler but also not a spoiler]

according to an interview with Do Ji Han one of the Hwarangs won't make it to the end of the drama, but didn't give any further information.

does any of you already have a take on who it might be?

i know it's still too early to ask, but i wanna know your opinions and speculations. it would also be fun to discuss this as the drama will progress~

I saw this photo on Twitter. It's Yoon Woo's character silhouette missing in the poster with only five of the hwarang people are talking about. So maybe he will be the one who dies?

We're screwed, Kkuljaem deleted their blog. We're gonna have to cross our fingers for someone to translate the articles about the drama :/ if it's fandom-specific tranlators they tend to skip content that's not specifically about their bias

Well you might know by now but just in case.

The new TV drama "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth" is gearing up to hit the musical stage, according to Asia Bridge Contents on Wednesday.

The period drama's first of 20 episodes aired Monday, but there are already talks of turning the KBS2 TV series into a live musical.

A statement by Asia Bridge Contents confirmed that the company, along with Oh Boy Project, already have plans to produce a musical spin-off of "Hwarang." However, details about the musical's cast and tentative release date are still unknown.

The romance series stars Park Seo-joon, Go Ara and Park Hyung-sik. It revolves around an elite group of young men called Hwarang, or flowering knights, from the Silla Kingdom.

The series also reunites Sung Dong-il, who plays Lord Wi-hwa, and Go who previously played the roles of father and daughter in the hit 2013 TV show "Reply 1994."

DRAMA REACTIONS & REVIEWS
Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching
by DB Staff | December 24, 2016

javabeans

Hwarang: I wasn’t entirely sure how I’d like the show in the first episode, which I felt tentatively positive about, although I don’t quite love this kind of jokey period modernization for a sageuk that’s capable of carrying a lot of heart—it’s what a think of as a Shrek-like past, where we have anachronistic modernisms that are meant to be cheeky fun. But I actually found that there was more meat and depth in the second episode, and thought we could do away with the jokey tone entirely, because Park Seo-joon is showing signs of heart-tugging emotion, and the main trio are interesting characters on their own. As for the pre-produced question, I do think it’s safely better than Moon Lovers on the production value front. It isn’t, at least, a hot mess.

Hwarang: I was a little worried, but you know what, it’s fun and zippy and not really as slapdash as the teasers made it seem. Park Seo-joon is a natural and the story is already engaging right out of the gate, with a good conflict between the two leading boys who cross paths at a crucial juncture (with promise of bromance and angst to come!). I could really do without seeing Sung Dong-il for the millionth time this year though. It’s starting to confuse me, seeing him all week long in concurrent dramas, being nice and then evil and then evil’s doppleganger, in and out of prison in Silla, Joseon, and chased by cops in Seoul. Stop making my drama worlds collide.

Hwarang: Kwang-soo was the best part of the pilot episode — I wish he had a longer cameo arc. Goguryeo gets so much love from drama-makers (e.g. Jumong, Ja Myung Go, Sword and Flower), but personally, I think Silla was the more interesting kingdom, socioculturally. So I came in with certain expectations for this drama, but unfortunately, my enjoyment of this adaptation’s modern fusion portrayal of Silla is being marred by my materialistic tendencies to notice Park Seo-joon’s weird rat-nest hair. Typical K-drama addict problems…

You mean this right? So i wonder which character will die?. :imstupid:

I'm in too deep, but this poster makes me actually think Tae lives. The photo of the five people is using the silhouettes of their solo posters. Like Park Seo Joon is in the middle throwing the apple up in the air. If you look at the silhouette on the left (#1), that is Taehyung's silhouette from his solo shot.

These are the pics I mean:

However, the young, innocent characters do usually die. So, I think this plot either goes one of two ways. He dies. It's tragic and depressing but used to galvanize the other characters, etc. OR... he loses his innocence and has to make a horrific choice that involves him killing one of the others.

Who knows. I'm in for the ride though. =)

Edit - a stills from Taehyung from KBS' blog this morning:

second edit - I'm like 300000 years late with my speculation under the spoiler lol woops. But I think/hope it's right...
