Am the only one having a 2nd lead syndrome here??? hmm... :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls:

Listen, i live for the king. His too charismatic. Park hyun shik always does this. I started watching high society a few yrs ago for uee and end it up staying for hyun shik character only lmao.

Can the queen kill ah-ro, she's ruinning the whole drama with her non-sense. At least killing her will make the King revolt against his mom, DogBird will try to kill both King & Queen, and her father will stop this non-sense with the queen.

Your savage lmao. Edited by amazonia

My god the main pairing is dreadful and utterly boring . I feel like i dont even watch half the show because i ff them so much. Urgh. Koreans dramas always spend so much unnecessary time on romance when we got much more interesting things to get to. Its frustrating.

BUT

WHY

IS THIS DRAMA

CALLED HWARANG

AND THEY DON'T EVEN SHOW THE HWARANG

WHY NOT JUST CALL IT

AH RO THE WHINY BITCH AND HER MINIONS

I dont know where it went wrong with her. Her character started interesting and then it all went south. All she does is cry , pout, look angry or follow and talk about sun woo at inappropriate times... im just like... annoyed... very annoyed. She's charmless. Utterly charmless. The writing for her sucks but go ara aint helping. She just act out the script without putting in feelings... it often take me out of the drama. She has no purpose other then be the love interest... im not even sure why they fell in love with her in the first place. Mess. She's bringing down the drama. They need to cut a lot of her scenes out. I cant take it anymore. I skip every scene she's in.

I've never been a fan on ji dwi's character but I always thought his character was charming and stronger than the male lead. He was a perfect lady puller kind of character and I was looking really forward to his character development.

But there's literally no character development from him at all. He started off with being a person hiding his identity and it's still the same. For me his character has literally become a loser kind of character. Basically a coward. He always needs someone protecting him.

It's so tragic what the writer did to his character tbh. Like how could he/she ruin a strong character like that??

I know the show isn't over yet so I hope his character doesn't end up being a tragic one.

Meanwhile loving banryu, hansung, banryu/suho's and hansung/ his brother's relationship and character developments.

Francella don't get mad at me :hurr:

The writer pretty much couldnt handle both sunwoo/ji dwi characters at the same time. She/ he developed the king at first then remembered half way that sw was the main character and had to give him all those heroic actions. Basically, he/she should have made them both leads.

Or at least something like six flying dragons with yo ah in/byun yo han characters would have work where one is the head/intellectual (king) and the other is all about fight/honor ( sunwoo). And make that distinction clear. But now with sunwoo who is probably of royalty it makes things uncomfortable because half of the audience is rooting for the second lead and if they mess too much with his story a portion of ur viewers will be mad.

Now, i dont trust the writing at all because we are almost at the climax and usually this is where the kwriters has no imaginations and have the main male lead look good over everyone else... so yeah i expect the king character to be butchered till the end. Im gonna scream if they make it seem like sunwoo would be a better king but he give it up for aro in end or some shit. Now that shit will set me off. And it seems like this is where its going.

Ehhh...if it was me in real life I'd still choose Sam Maek because at least he doesn't ignore her whenever he feels like it. The way Sunwoo just ignores her conveniently is damn annoying, he's a terrible communicator as well. (My opinion).

I think the writers did a great job with Sam Maek in making him at least slightly forceful - he's a king. You'll never hear of a legit king who doesn't get the exact woman he wants. It's unrealistic enough that Sam Maek even begged her for anything, or offered to give up his position for her. Absolutely shocking.

Um, I didn't thumb you down. Not that I have anything against negs, I mean look at my rep, but anyway I'm just saying.

Did the ratings go down overall? They need to stop stalling and just crown Sam Maek already. We're been hearing since episode 1 that there's a hidden king, so why are we still waiting for him to come out? That is why the ratings aren't going up.

The ratings has gone down. It reached 11% in the second half of the series and went back down to 10, 9,8...7 and 8. This drama was given a chance by viewers but the writing really killed any chance it had to maintain the momentum they gained at the start of the second half so viewers went to watch defendant and other stuff. The core fans from the beginning still seems to be watching tho.

I feel bad for the cast because their was no real acting controversy aside from go ara/princess so for a young cast it means that they all did their job well. Its just that the writing really failed them. Had the writing been good this drama would have gotten them a lot more popularity.

I can believe how bad this drama turn out to be holy shit. Its terrible but my ass is still watching it for the actors but seriously this is terrible. Moon lovers was terrible and messy but still kinda fun in some ways but this shit is not even fun to watch.

I absolutely love her

LOL, you're not surprised and neither am I. Unfortunately a lot of the episode was us hearing for the millionth time that Sunwoo should be the bloody king. No. Thank goodness Hyungsik graced us with his majestic beauty.

Lmaooo u right im not surprised i just didnt want to go on a rant about it and tried to be nice for the people here who's still invested in the story lmaoo. Well knetz tried with the show but the writing was trash.

King bae is bae. Even knetz cant get enough of him. Like many others i hope he does a historical drama again. Preferably with the writers of queen seon deok/six flying dragons as they know how to actually write a story.

im dropped at EP.20 if the show endup SW as a king. :ohpressor:

I have a feeling that maybe sunwoo is the rightful king (in the writer crazy mind) but will leave it to smj.... which i would find extremely insulting if they go there.

Knetz also want King Gorgeous instead of Sunwoo? Thank goodness.

(You have any comment translations, please share if you do.)

I'm assuming that for pre-produced dramas, they are smart enough to film alternative storylines. That way, if the viewers' reation is negative, they can just use the more favorable storyline by switching out episodes. If I've thought of it, then so have they, which means even pre-produced dramas have no excuse for garbage storylines that everybody hates.

Most of the comments are about king bae in korea. Its been like this since the start of the show. You can check old hwarang articles on kkuljaems. Knetz has the same feelings as us ifans regarding the writing of this show. They all complain about the love story, not enough focus on hwarang, dragging this whole thing with the king etc.

I know moon lovers filmed 2 different endings... so maybe hwarang did as well.

After watching a few pre produced drama's i've come to the conclusion that a huge chunk of korean writers are just bad. I thought it was the live shooting system that was the problem but theirs no excuse for how messy hwarang/cinderella and 4k/ moon lovers turned out to be story wise. I didnt like uncontrollably fond either. A lot of Kwriters arent that talented. They have good basic ideas which is why many shows start out good but they cant follow through so they rely on the romance aspect way too much which usually end up overwhelming the plot and we end up with the second half of most drama's sucking badly.

Ending was eh. Fine... i guess. Im still pissed at how they made smj appear so danm weak... but no ranting about it today lol. Anyway the cast did a great job so kudos to them. I thought their would have been a lot of acting controversy because of how young they are and with a few idols in the cast but the boys did really well. Their was less acting controversy here then moon lovers lul. Go ara ... well lets just say she needs to improve and keep it that.

[spoilers] Hwarang (Finale)

Naver - Herald Pop: Hwarang finale, Park Hyung Shik kept the throne.. Park Seo Joon♥ Go Ara 'marriage'

1. [+4,633, -140] What the drama succeeded in doing is making King Jinheung the main character... It ended with Park Hyung Shik getting recognized for his sageuk acting and visuals

2. [+2,795, -123] Park Hyung Shik is cool ♡ A drama that lived off its cast. Why is Sunwoo's hair always untied? It looks so weird, their eyebrows look weird. The cast have suffered

3. [ +2,178, -120] Park Hyung Shik matches sageuks, I hope he does another one

4. [+1,877, -110] Park Hyung Shik's acting was amazing today, he looked daebak in his king costume ã„·ã„·

5. [+1,808, -114] 'King Jinheung' is currently ranked #1 for most searched term. If only he was the main character in the first place. I'm seeing Park Hyung Shik differently, he's good at sageuks

6. [+547, -22] I bet if only the drama focused more of the hwarang's friendships or the king and the hwarangs, the ratings would have exceeded 10%

7. [+486, -24] I only stuck to the end for Park Seo Joon, Park Hyung Shik, Sung Dong Il and Pa O. Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Shik need to reunite in a better drama or in a movie

8. [+423, -26] A waste of the actors' time

Daum - News 1: Park Seo Joon and Go Ara get married, Park Hyung Shik becomes the king.. 'happy ending'

1. [+401, -76] Hyung Shik saved this drama!

2. [+337, -44] Feels like Park Hyung Shik stood out the most in the final episode

3. [+274, -22] I'm glad it's a happy ending. Goblin is over, Hwarang is over, what do I watch now?

4. [+240, -13] Ah writer, don't even think of writing another sageuk again. Overall, this drama is nothing but a lame romance set in Silla times

5. [+139, -4] Can't see any sincerity put into producing this drama. Truly a waste of the cast's skills. Did they not have enough budget since there weren't any PPL? It had all the potential to be better but the writer and PD screwed up big time
