When Youtube comments give you brain cancer

So I've been watching Buzzfeed and Vice videos and I noticed everything is ok but as soon as it comes to feminisms and sujects like catcalling or LGBTQ+ rights they are "far left wing activists that hate white men"

there's much more hate on this video

than on this hate

We're in 2016 and I thought this was over with but some insist in remaining ignorant, like why do people think  just because you're a feminist you hate men or because you're and LGBTQ+ activist you deny freedom of religion. Everytime I read something like "those leftwing faggot" or "feminazi" I makes wanna explode like it's time we move

past those things ok, minorities exists and wether or not it bothers you they are suffering and they just want to be treated with respect and love. Basically be treated like an human beings, is it too much to ask? Are women and queer (I'm using it as an umbrella term, not an insult obviously) people supposed to comply and let themselves be raped, beaten and killed without saying anything? what these guys are basically saying is these people are suffering and I know that they are suffering but I don't care and it annoys that they are raising their voices.

I'm sorry I know most of you guys are not like this (or at least I hope you're not, don't let me down) and this forum is not about human rights but I needed to get it off my chest, also I've read some things on the thread about feminism and it really rubbed me the wrong way. We are in 2016 after all that we've been through, I mean people have litteraly died fighting for equal rights, after all that you're really gonna seat there and act like an ignorant and intolerant peace of shit? Please educate yourself try to learn about what feminism is really about and why it's important (even for men) before talking about feminism destroying societies.

Maybe it's ruining your insensitive and misogynistic world but it definetely doesn't ruin society. I'm done, sorry again this is not exactly the place for this kind of rant

Anonymous commenters is the best and worst thing about the internet. It's great for sharing ideas across cultures and other traditional boundaries; but the amount of idiocy that is brought to the forefront... and the exposure of some of the most base and low forms of human behaviour is a hard price to pay.

It's okay if you want to rant. But I think you should tell that on YouTube also.  :meow:

I do, I often get in fights with people and it amazes how rude they can be x)

i agree, that's extremely aggravating, but you can't educate everyone, so at some point you have to let it go and ignore that. you'll eventually stop caring as much about every random moron on the internet.

Yeah I know I should not care about every single one but when the same annoying and ignorant argument is being used over and over again by different people, it makes me so mad, I hope I'll grow out of it soon and the trolls will stop getting to me so easily

I agree but unfortunately there's very little we can do. A small group of people with common sense can do only little against hoards of morons.

YouTube doesn't help the situation at all though. I know this isn't related to the subjects you've mentioned but my point still stands. Did you know that YouTube deems comments containing abuse towards disabled people as "OK"?

In a documentary from 2014 or 2015 (I forget the name sorry but it was a BBC3 doc.) a man with a facial disfigurement was talking about the attitudes people have towards disabled people not only online but offline and surprisingly even in the law. This man makes YouTube videos and some of the comments were shall we say unpleasant. One such comment said "what happened to x character in x movie should've happened to him at birth. They clearly meant he should've been killed at birth or something horrible like that. Anyway he reported them to YouTube and they actually responded with an email saying they saw "nothing really wrong" with the comment and that it "didn't violate their rules."

Now I know and understand that not everyone at YouTube and Google think this way, it's most likely a minority but it's common knowledge that like most social media sites YouTube is very under regulated so unfortunately these things happen.

Sorry if my initial comment alarmed you or anyone else. Incidents like the one I mentioned do not in anyway reflect the opinions of YouTube or Google as a whole. Still working on being careful with my wording.

That for me is one of the biggest problem with youtube, they have little to no control on the content and comments that are on their network, some of them (the content) violate actual discrimination laws irl but since their's so much content being upload everyday they can't cotrol it and I understand that but the case that you just described is really disturbing because the comment was actually report, it'd interesting to know on what ground the decieded that the comment wasn't harmfull
