Have I been friendzoned!?

Okay, so I started talking to this guy off of okcupid, he's pretty cute. He was good at keeping conversation and thought I was attractive,so  I was interested. We had been texting every day for the past month or so until he finally decided to meet up. We decided to go out for coffee. It went really well I thought. He was laughing at my jokes and everything. When it was all over he didn't kiss me though all he did was give the whole one handed hug with a short back rub thing. He then texted me that thought I was really fun and that we should do it again and we made plans for another meet up. The other "date" is in a couple of days, but I'm worried I've been friend zoned because the lack of kissing.

I've never been friendzoned before, so I don't really know the signs. Do you think that sounds like friend zoning?

Kinda.. was he flirty with you when you texted? Maybe he doesn't want to move too fast because he see's you as potential for a future girlfriend? I don't like to move too fast if I'm just meeting someone, since they're still new to me. Idk, it seems like he likes you. Just wait for the second date and see if there's more and if he's more flirty.... if not, just talk to him and ask him straight up what he see's in you guy's relationship for the future. Maybe ask him during the second date?

ehhh the weird hug he gave is kinda friend like, if he just gave a regular hug I would say definitely no but idk could have been nervous about kissing you on the first date.

Some guys are just shy, and not kissing on a first date is still a thing. I mean you've seen it on movies, and on TV shows that guys can get nervous during the last second when they're supposed to kiss the other person, got nervous, and did something stupid, yea?

I would give him the benefit of the doubt, especially since he's inviting you for a second date. If you guys have been on 3 - 4 dates, and still no clear signs, I would just ask him straight-up what he wants.
