The reporter who was sued by YG Entertainment for writing inaccurate and malicious articles was penalized with fines.

Previously, it was reported that YG Entertainment and its' employees sued a reporter, and demanded compensation of 100 million won (~$87,000 USD) for libel/defamation.

Initially, YG Entertainment failed to press charges due to a lack of proof. However, the reported pleaded guilty, and stated that his articles did include inaccurate information. He was accepting of the penalty but claimed that the compensation fee was too high. The court agreed and ordered the reporter to pay YG Entertainment a summons of 10 million won (~$8700 USD).

As a result, the case has now been closed with a penalty verdict of 10 million won (~$8700 USD).

I can't get the logic of pleading guilty if you already safe for charges. #SoundsSuperSuspicious

No this was the one said that Seungri was drunk when he had his accident even though the police breathalyzed him at the scene, which was reported in other papers.

yes, it doesn't make sense either unless YGE had additional proof that refuted the reporter's words after the first article came out about failure to find guilty.

Probably just flop reporting on AKP's part.  I mean, there was a delay between when the reporter first put out "questionable" articles and when YG finally got around to suing him; maybe they thought it wasn't that serious or maybe they didn't think it would be worth going to court even for the moral victory ($8700 in damages is really nothing compared to the court costs).  I assume they sued him when they finally thought he'd gone too far and lied too obviously.  His pleading guilty obviously did not precipitate them suing him, since obviously they were already suing him.

That was on March 7th. AKP article is today, March 31st.

Something happened in between those 24 days. more court hearings, more evidence, something happened and now he's pleading guilty. We need to get a fuller story.

Thanks for the info.

AKP trash articles are the reason I left them years ago, they are as bad as those K-reporters. :omgwtf:

The problem with AKP is that they are rank amateurs, both in terms of translation (just knowing both languages doesn't make you a good translator) and in... being good at writing (well most people suck at writing).  That's entirely aside from whether they happen to be driven by irrational biases or desire to drive up ad clicks by whatever means necessary.  In contrast, K-reporters may have questionable ethics but to a certain degree I assume their writing is better.

And the fact that most of the time, they turn "some" peoples personal opinions as facts.

Plus their mastery in cutting the original article to turn it as more controversial as it is to attract more viewers and commentators.
