Sana Muñequita Linda 2,566
This is a question I've been making for quite some time and which resurfaced in my mind just after a night binge of corn flakes. Why is it that EXILE haven't recorded a live album yet? "Live album" as in "a CD whose audio was recorded in a concert". TVXQ have four Japanese ones, Pendulum bundled their Brixton Academy concert DVD with a CD of said live performance, etc etc. In spite of EXILE's heavy focus on dancing, their highest-selling album is a compilation of studio-recorded ballads (1,852,823 copies and eight years of life) and they're also known by the vocal delivery of their front vocalist ATSUSHI. Even though EXILE release very high-budgeted tours in home video formats, I raise my eyebrow knowing that none of said tours has been recorded as a live CD album. So instead of relying in Youtube>MP3 rippings any longer, why can't we have a live album when some live versions outsmart their studio-recorded counterparts? Do you want an EXILE live album? Discuss! Owatari 733
That's pretty interesting considering they're under AVEX. Though since they are under their own management that may play a role in their lack of live albums compared to other AVEX artist (under both the label and management). It could be a possibility that since they are a performance group, they don't want to exclude that aspect and thus only opt for DVD/BD. But that's just speculation on my part. But that's just speculation on my part. Well... it's true that a live album is by definition derived from an actual performance, but the dancers don't really contribute anything to the CD-only version of their studio albums either (aside from pictures) so I think that is kind of unlikely. I wonder how the vocalists vs. dancers are compensated for music sales, actually....

But that's just speculation on my part. I'm sure this is exactly the reason.
