AKB48 announces new 3 oversea sister units

Today, in a concert at Yokohama Stadium, 3 new oversea units of 48 chain are announced. They are Thai unit BNK48, Philippines unit MNL48 and Taiwan unit TPE48.

JKT jakarta

MNL manila

BNK bangkok

TPE taipei 

 

they have a future in bangkok/taiwan, but i am not sure with philippines.

Philippines has a HUGE celebrity culture and the fact that there are 48 girls will gain the group good and bad publicity, but it will get their name out there. As long as the creation of the group will be attached to a major TV channel (2 or 7), all is good especially if they will have visual slayages. It really highly depends on who are the members that will get in the group and if they'll garner people's attention. Stanning levels are high in the Philippines (see: Sarah G, Kim Chiu, Aldub, Kathniel, Jadine). Fans will spend as long as you get their adulation...

I think you are a filipino, I bet ABSCBN will pick them since AKB was guessed in showtime before, I hope they won't end up like ALDUB a one hit wonder

AlDub was more of a live TV drama - and like most pinoy dramas, they dragged it out so people's interest fizzled

 

This is an idol group (Philippine's FIRST legit idol group!) . More like they need members who have the same level of charisma as Kathryn/Nadine/Liza/Maine or are stan attractors.

Since when Shanghai is a capital city?!

 

As a Thai, I'm not sure about Bangkok unit.

And? Five years active and still no original material. They only get like one MV per single and are their venues are kinda cheap. Their management is not even trying with them. They put more money in other sister groups who are not as successful as JKT, imo.

I really want to see Russian sister group...

 

Russian producers did asked for a group back in 2010 after they saw AKB48 at some music meet.

 

 

The demands were high everywhere, including South Korea, Philippines and Russia back then.

 

AKS or Aki-P mentioned they're very cautious of expanding because they want to make sure each country have enough local business demand, local management support, as well as basic infrastructure before they will think about it.

 

 

After Shanghai and Jakarta, I think they're ready to tackle other markets.

+Other country surely sees what SNH did for Shanghai and what JKT did for Indonesia.

 

48 is not just a music group, it's a advertisement/image/entertainment/music group in one, a jack-of-all-trade talent agency... Where the actors are local girls.

 

 

NGT debut, and received a lot of advertisement jobs before they even open their theater.

The local businessman are ready to work with them long before they debut

 

NGT48's very first MV? they took gorgeous shots of Niigata, and really makes Niigata look beautiful, which improve the prefecture's image and boost tourism, exposure and business awareness.

 

 

 

 

If you're from Bangkok, Manila or Taipei.

Imagine this, you see local young girls, representing local city chasing a dream with the name of your city behind them... Unless they're absolutely horrendous, how can you not support that?

I think it's really getting too much now but I can just ignore these new groups if they don't interest me

Agree but it's not like all 48G are manage by one company tho. JKT got their own management that fund their own stuffs. SNH got different chinese agency that just spend more money
