Why Can't Got7 Find Success In Korea?

I'm not trolling or trying to bring hate to this group but, I'm genuinely curious as to why GOT7 can't grab knetz attention. They've already captured the hearts of international fans but when it comes to their home turf, they can't even stay on Melon which is so frustrating! Their latest comeback is by far one of my favorites from them, Just Right era comes to a close second, they artistically participated a ton with this comeback. I would have loved to hear the songs Jackson had to offer but, I'm sure we'll either hear it in concert or improved songs for next comeback.

What is it that makes GOT7 so unsuccessful in Korea? It's not as if they come from a company that doesn't know how to promote their artists, look at how well Twice is doing. I know gg tend to do better than bg but GOT7 have so much potential in every aspect of the Korean entertainment industry!

I honestly don't know what else they could do to grab knetz attention, they're all so individually talented and together they're lethal!

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER KOREA AND STOP SLEEPING ON THIS TALENT!!!!

Same goes for Day6 but, that's more of a problem of JYPE's poor marketing skills.

Because they keep on changing their style of music every comeback without gaining traction. Same reason why BtoB did horribly digitally before 2015.

It actually didn't occur to me that they keep changing their concept, Just Right was probably their most successful song and they should have kept with that momentum and then slowly start the transition to more mature music.

gg dont tend to be more popular than bg

the issue is that fans are spread out a lot more in girl group fandoms. the majority of plausible got7 fans are already bts fans or exo fans and because of the bias fan culture, supporting got7 while being a bts/exo fan would be wrong.

boy groups tend to really hang onto their fandoms for a long time, the only time a new group can get a large number of fans is when it's at a point where a new generation of fans are ready to pick their group for the long haul. BTS picked up a lot of this generations fans thanks to how often they promote and how active they are in general.

got7 will make it, without a doubt. Whether or not they will become the beast/infinite of this generation is up to destiny i suppose.

and im not saying bts > got7 but it seems to be that bts has a bigger fandom at the moment. similar styles, similar concepts but bts has been doing it longer and have been more active, thus they've absorbed more of the demographic.

also exo still has a huge monopoly on the same demographic.

Just right was actually their second least successful song digitally.

Really!? Wow, with the amount of views they have on that music video I expected it to do a lot better! I don't really keep up with them but a few of their songs have caught my attention. Farewell has been repeated more than a few times.

Because let's be honest jyp has no idea what to do with them, like what's their genre? hiphop? but their rappers aren't talented enough to compete with other hiphop based groups (bts, ikon, block b etc). Just Right, If You Do, Fly etc they're all different and it's ok to do different genres but they don't have an identity it's like they're debuting again and again. Also I don't follow them that much so correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like they appear on variety too much and it's a problem when public sees you as a comedian/variety star rather than a musician.

I confused it with if you do. The song got them even more noticed by I-fans, but Koreans don't really seem to care. Just right honestly is very B1A4 esque which most of their fandom was elementry schoolers, which don't stream or DL music as much.

Songs like Crazy by 4 minute and Dope by BTS each have amazing 50 million + views but both sadly those songs performed poorly digitally.

I feel as if JYP wants them to be the next 2PM and keep sending them overseas when they should be focusing on the Korean market. I know concerts overseas is what makes them money but, if they want a lasting career I feel they need to stay in Korea and maybe, let the members have free reign of their music.

Their rappers need to start writing their own lyrics for every song and JYP needs to utilize how knetz are gravitating towards self composed artists but, what else can you expect from JYP when they didn't follow up with an album when BAY slayed the music charts.

If You Do was mediocre to me but, that's just the taste of music I prefer. I mean if they set out to target elementary schoolers they can grow with them as artists; BTS were known to have only younger fans and they've managed to grab a small percentage of knetz attention.

Idk give it time and just enjoy the music they're releasing now. BTS took a while to gain the attention of the punlic but had the support of i-fans almost instantaneously.

Got7 needs to define their sound and have better title tracks. I almost always always prefer their b tracks.

Just Right was what got me into them, very cute and encouraging concept.

i'm not entirely sure since i don't know how the korean industry works tbh. maybe it's the marketing or the songs or the public...could be the result of multiple factors

unrelated but they should've made Rewind the title track smh

i bought the album just for rewind and beggin on my knees

Dope wasn't a comeback song nor the title track tho...

BTS r more popular than Got7 inside & outside Korea. How can igot7 explain it? It's just bcs got7's music is plain; stop blaming everything on Korea's taste

Bts only debut 6 months before Got7

While BTS has been consistently hiphop which gear a bit more mainstream with their last 2 albums, Got7 only hiphop style was back when they debut. Got7 got everything, but the idol market is saturated. JYP tried to market Got7 as the second 2pm and it's not working. I think JYP's groups are all that one hit that propelled them more than systematic promotion. WG got "tell me", 2pm got "10pts out of 10pts" and 2am "Even if i die"

I agree that it's very hard to convert boy group stans. Bts trajectory is pretty similar to got7. They consistently earn fans little by little until HYYH1 where it suddenly exploded. It was all thanks to a catchy song and sticky concept. So I think the same thing need to happened to Got7 to explode in fandom.
