How long do you have to wait till your 2nd post doesn't get joined with your 1st?

Okay, so I know there's a mechanism that joins your second post with your first one to prevent double-posting. But I had difficulties trying to bypass this because I wanted to reserve 2nd/3rd/etc. posts after the OP on a thread right away, but it kept on joining it together with the OP instead.

 

Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening?

the 1 min later was to show 1 min was not enough cuz it still merged
