She thought she had set it to go for five minutes. It was 50 minutes. She proceeded to then do something else (I forget) which involved her being in another room, and got distracted. Around 30 minutes later, she smelled smoke, got confused, and checked the microwave. It was black. There was nothing but blackness, and a very grey looking, smoke filled kitchen.
