What do you do to stop feeling embarrassed?

What do you guys do to stop feeling that awful feeling of embarrassment after something embarrassing happens? Ugh, I had one embarrassing day and the after-emotion of it all is just awful. I want to just forget it and get over it all, but the embarrassment keeps coming back to haunt me.

smoke a blunt and watch unbreakable kimmy schmidt on netflix

smoke a blunt and watch Bob's Burgers.

Or...

i dunno... you have to laugh it off... shit happens....

Anecdote:

On St. Patty's weekend... my friend.... challenged me to a foot race... it was on a sidewalk of a main street. I ate shit...like skinned my elbow and palm...all bloody. People were honking...all my friends (and friends of friends i'd just met that day) were laughing... plus the friend who i was racing also happens to be the person i'm sort of ... hooking up with (but newly)... so it was all an ego blow.... but i just had to laugh about it and move on.

I mean, if it wasn't something really serious....It helps me to joke about stuff that's embarrassing with good friends. Let them crack jokes too...clearing the air and acknowledging awkwardness ... really diffuses the situation. So call up a friend and tell them about your day. It helps.

People really don't care, do you remember every embarrassing thing people around you have done? Once you realise that you'll encounter embarrassing situations all the time, you'll learn to laugh at yourself and not take it too seriously.

^ To be honest, that's me usually. It's a good rule to live by. But today's embarrassment was more than just tripping on the street, etc. It was combined with being disappointed in myself for not doing as well as I could have done, etc. so to be honest, it's not really about what others may think of it.

Well, I don't know what happened so I can't really give proper advice but if it's something to do with your performance in school, work, etc. why don't you try to turn that embarrassment and disappointment into a learning experience that will make you work harder/do better. That's what I try to do at least.
