Nestea Iced Tea 2,313
They look comfortable with the corpse. I feel like their view on death is more liberating and less sad compared to the rest of the world. I personally wouldn't want a mummy in my home though. Joon 8,222
Yeah...not exactly how I Would want to remember my lived ones...as a rotting corpse. They are gone,'let the body return back to the earth and nourish it. I know it's cultural and all, but this doesn't seem to be that healthy of a practice....IMO.... Edit: oh I read into this more, it seems they just don't bury their dead until the funds are raised as they have very elaborate and costly funerals: "Funeral ceremonies are incredibly important to the Tarajans and are often held weeks, months, or even years after the death of a person to give the family of the deceased time to raise enough money for expenses – a body is not buried until the funds have been raised. Many people go deeply into debt in order to hold a funeral ceremony and it is not uncommon for a young man, afraid of being burdened by debt, to postpone or cancel his marriage if a grandparent of the girl he loves is old enough to die soon. The funerals are raucous affairs involving the whole village and traditionally last for days or even weeks. Specifically, a funeral reinforces the eternal bond between the living and the dead."
