I have a driving test in two weeks and I'm feeling VERY anxious about it

Okay, so I can do my maneuvers pretty fine. I can do Turn in the road and bay parking perfectly but I can't seem to do parallel parking good enough. I think I struggle a lot especially when you got that cars waiting behind, it gets a little nerve wracking when I think of how pissed they are when I am taking a very long time to get it done.

Other than that, I struggle with dual carriageways, only at the part where I have to join the carriageway. I think I sometimes focus on my speed a lot not looking around much. Just earlier this morning on my lesson, I have failed to spot a car that was on the left lane which I joined to because it was being blocked by trees. I failed to make a final check on my right side mirror and my instructor got disappointed.

So there is my situation. Any of you got any tips and tricks for me?

TL;DR

I need help/tips with parallel parking and carriageways  :rlytearpls:

With parallel parking, the biggest tip I have is to go really slow. If you go slow and stay calm, parallel parking shouldn't be too bad. I do it everyday! lol

Thanks for the tip. Since you do it everyday, is there any tip on how you would maneuver the car on a hill and on a very bendy road camber?

I can't help you since I know nothing about driving but I wanna say goodluck!! You can do it ! :D

Thank you. I'll need that a lot  :stare:

hm I never really do that, but I guess you can use your emergency break to keep the car still once parked?

It may be hard, but make sure you keep your eyes on all mirrors and your speed, as well as your surroundings~ Knowing how to do things is important, but it's much more important that you are a safe driver and are paying attention to ev-er-y-thing~

I still hate when people are behind, but you know what? They can go to hell lol

I;m from the US so idk what you're talking about  BUT my biggest tip it make sure your mirrors are correct! You shouldn't be able to see your car in your side mirrors.

I totally failed at parallel parking and still managed to pass, so it may not be the end of the world if that part doesn't go well. I'm from the U.S so I don't know what carriageway is, so it sounds like merging lanes? Keep practicing if that's what you're worried about. Always make sure your lanes are clear before merging.

Breathing exercises always help regulate your heart and calm you down, so maybe do those before the test.

That's actually another thing I struggle about. My observation is not that good in the road and my instructor sometimes say that my "planning ahead" is very lacking and often at times because I didn't check around  :rlytearpls:

Wow. That makes me feel somehow lighthearted about this. So I guess it's not the end of the world when you fail the parallel parking?

Though I still find it hard when you are emerging to a lane and there were trees that are blocking the view of the vehicles on the motorway :( but I can't reduce my speed because I need to build it up on the slip road. I think I'm seriously slow at making that final check and keeping my steering steady  :rlytearpls:

If you're nervous about people behind you, it might help if you get a "new driver" bumper sticker. That way people know what to expect and may exercise a bit more patience  :ohbi:

  • 2 weeks later...

if it makes you feel any better, I failed my drivers test 3 times and I'm 6 years overdue for my license lol.

what did they fail you on?

It was an extremely stupid decision of mine on a roundabout. The instructor told me to follow a certain direction and when I was approaching the roundabout, I realised that I needed to go to third exit so I should've been on the right lane but I was on the left lane with left signal indicating that I'll leave first exit which was just ahead of the roundabout.

When I realised my mistake, I told my instructor and she said do whatever I can which is necessary to correct my mistake, from there I could've still avoided a serious offence but I don't know what kind of stupid crap I was thinking but I indicated to the right and she told me to keep left and go straight to first exit, cancelling my signal :/
