Korea Pop is not a competition

I see all the time people pitting girl groups against each other as if this is UFC or NFL or something. Korea Pop is not competition, they are just trying to live out their dreams. All the groups are friendly with each other. So we don't need to compare them this way.

Kpop is a highly competitive industry. Competition is encouraged in almost every possible way. Just think of how the charts work. How detailed they are, the hourly updates, etc.

It's a competition. From the time they're kids auditioning into companies to beyond their debut trying to get people to buy their music or trying to get on shows or trying to get advertisement deals. Trainees compete against each other, groups compete against each other, companies compete against each other.

Because without competition, fans cannot bragging their idol achievement and bringing down/bash other group. Fans love fan war, and love to compare their group with other group.

Is win-win solution, because fan will bulk buy and spend a lot of effort just to make sure their bias win music show, online poll, or even cooking competition. In the end, more money for company

There are some losers in this list of groups from the past 6 years. The Kpop economy has shown it cannot support every child and company's dream to succeed. There are those who have success and can support themselves through the industry and those who disband and lead other lives. When Kpop can support every single child whose dream is to be a kpop star and every single person who wants to be some kpop company CEO then you can claim it's not a competition. Until then, it's a competition.

it's only a competition for companies. idols don't have enough creative freedom to be competitive. they have to just go with the flow. for them, it would be pointless.

You're my competition

i think i am more of a mentor than your competition

They have to compete with each other to be in the groups in the first place. And then they have to do their best with singing and dancing and variety skills to attract attention in the opportunities they're given and the opportunities they have to audition for. They have to manage their looks and figures. The pressure to get plastic surgery to be prettier is there. You think they don't think about how to get screen time if they manage to get on a variety show? You think they don't train and prepare for that? If Kpop wasn't a competition they could go lax with their preparations because it wouldn't matter. But it does, because Kpop is a competition.

Just because you work hard doesn't mean you're being competitive

This is what I know from speaking to industry people. They don't view it in that way

If they, meaning kpop companies, idols, producers, don't work hard what happens? Their songs are bad, their stages stuck, they don't get screen time. No one buys their music, no one watches the shows they're on, they can't make a living doing kpop. That money goes to the people with good songs, good stages, and who get screen time. It's probably better for their mental health to not think about the overall competitiveness of everything, but the driving factors to do well are there because it is a competition.

Well of course, it's their job, and they should do their job well. But one man's success does not necessarily mean another man's failure.
