The Ark is a South Korean girl group under Music K Entertainment. The name of the group was inspired by the historical figure "Joan of Arc" and it represents the idea that the members are independent and strong yet delicate. The logo also reaffirms that: the body that looks like a butterfly represents the delicate nature, while the weapons of a sword, arrows, and a shield represent the strength.

 

The group consists of Min Ju, Yuna Kim, Yu Jin, Halla and Jane. They debuted on April 12, 2015, on SBS INKIGAYO with the song 'The Light', a contemporary R&B song based on the lyrical guitar riff adding groovy rhythm and hip-hop sounds. It was composed by Kim Tae Sung, who composed 'The Boys' of GIRLS' GENERATION and Iconic Sounds, the home of K-Pop Star’s Andrew Choi.

 

"The Ark" is a multicolor group showing various images reflected by the public, not insisting the only one concept, meaning to be the new icon which is strong but delicate as well as active but independent.
