How Do You Feel About Waist Trainers?

I've noticed 'waist trainers' are increasingly becoming popular amidst beauty standards in the west. There seems to be this general trend of embrace your curves, which some people find to be a breakthrough. However, I feel like beauty standards are still as superficial as they have always been. For example, by encouraging girls to be thick on almost every part of their body except their waist sounds to me like they're saying, "It's okay to have curves as long as they're in the right places." Now, this is strictly my opinion, but I have yet to witness anyone else speak up about how superficial this trend seems to be. Is it really just me who feels this way or do you also think this trend does not promote body acceptance?

yes they are superficial but i kind of want one... i have a small waist anyway but i want it to be smaller, i don't have big hips so i want to try and make them look bigger by having a smaller waist.  they do not at all preach to love your body, because you're squishing it into a little tiny thing to make your body look a certain way.  people can't pretend they 'embrace curves' because they don't, their only aim is to create new, unnatural ones.

Agreed it's a trend I have a love/hate sort of relationship with. I'm glad that thicker girls are finally getting some attention and love but it's only thicker girls who are thick with a flat stomach, no flabby arms and no chubby face. Their only "thick" on their ass, thighs and boobs tbh and it just sucks that girls who are thick all over don't get the same love, much less get called "thick". If anything they're just seen as fat.

I don't' think large waists will ever be accepted tbh. Smalls waists sends subconscious signals about reproductive health. Women that waist to hip ratios of about 70 percent, have higher estrogen levels, are more likely to become pregnant, and have less of a chance of miscarrying.

Also women that have body types that egg shaped, pear shaped, or stick shaped have a higher chance of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer, and problems with circulation.

I really dislike them. They're basically the modern form of corsets. They can also lead to health problems.  :unimpressed:

Here's the deal. People should want to be HEALTHY, not PERFECT. Everyone's body is different. We all gain weight in certain places; it's genetic. The only thing you can do is eat clean and exercise, gain muscle to get the body you want. It might not be perfect but you'll at least have a clear mind, have energy, and be strong.
