Ariana Grande stopped by The Daly Download with Carson Daly, and the topic of Kesha and women’s issues came up.

“I love Kesha,†says Grande with conviction. â€œI worked with her when I was a lot younger. We’ve been friends, I support her, regardless of what’s going on. I didn’t know about a lot of this, at the time I was really young. We didn’t discuss any of this. The incredible double standards that we [women] face on a daily basis, in the industry and just in the world, it’s shocking. I would be so amused, and pardon me if this comes across as sexist, but I don’t think a male artist would be in this position right now. Sorry.â€

And when asked if she is worried about being so open with her support of Kesha, Grande didn’t hesitate to respond.

“If I’m speaking out about something I’m passionate about, I’m willing to take the brunt for fighting for what I believe in. And my fellow women are definitely something that I will always be one of the first to speak up about.â€

Not watching the vid cause I don't wanna suffer through that but I'm guessing she means about her being abused? I mean I guess the chances would be less (tho imo not by much) but it's still definitely possible lol. It's not like males are exempt from this type of treatment in the entertainment entertainment, there are plenty of testaments against that.

Unless she's talking about losing the law suit? Which would actually be wrong. Males would probably have it more worse in a sexual abuse case tbh.

But I guess I shouldn't judge if I haven't watched the vid lol.

Woah I like Ariana but this is sooop wrong.

Men don't come forward with rape claims or domestic abuse claims because they get so stigmatized and she just added to it..

Imagine if a male celebrity said that a female producer was raping him - I assure you he would get laughed at and ppl dismissing his horrible situation due to his gender

lol. If she's saying males can't be raped or sexually assaulted, she's dumb af cause that's not true.

Shes basically saying a male cant be raped

I'm pretty sure she's implying that a man in the music industry wouldn't have his career shut off, have his personal life exploited negatively in the media (if the situation was at all covered), and basically have people doubt his situation because of his sex.

The industry is ran by males, Grande is implying this. Not that men can't get raped, but that they wouldn't be in such a shitty position as Kesha is now if they'd appealed for justice just as her

I'm pretty sure the reaction to a man admitting to this would be worse. Exactly because it is run by males. Society webs a very narrow box on "masculinity", a person going against that would open a box that not many want to acknowledge. While women in the other hand are generally conceived to be involved and victims of a lot of this cases (which is terrible but yea...).

And I thought pretty much majority of people supported her (?). I mean I'm not following the whole thing but a lot of people were very outraged at the ruling on my feed lol.

This isnt true since the public and media would have more sympathy towards a woman. A man being raped is very stigmatized and people probably wouldnt believe him or they would laugh at him. And the media always exploits a celebrities personal life no matter if theyre male or female.

And the reason for her career shutoff is because shes still signed under dr.luke and hes not allowing her to release music, it has nothing to do with her being a woman.

Is she talking about all the backlash Kesha is receiving about her sexuality? If so, then yeah I agree with everything she's saying. Females get a lot more hate when it comes to being open about sexuality than males do.

But if she's saying that a male artist would have won his case, she's wrong. Males lose sexual assault cases almost all the time...........

Tbh I'm unsure myself, though I'd rather assume optimistically than pessimistically. She can't be that closed off from the world to not get that men can be raped too...

Just to piggyback off what Nae said... And I am one thats for male and female rights and any given situation.. I wouldn't say hundred percent feminist but yeah...

I think what Ariana is trying to say.. Is sexual assault and sexual abuse towards the male is so uncommon in the industry because it's never talked about because of shame.. That people are more bound to be on the male side then anyone else's... She's not implying males can't get raped.. She's implying that since there is not a lot of history there people are more bound to understand oh listen to that situation more than a female... Since a some females  is a common thing and there have been lots of situations where females have lied about rape... It's like next a more than females that people Are more bound to say why would he lie basically... Yes a shitty way to look at it but it sort of makes sense if you understood what she was trying to say
