A video of a Thai transgender woman suffering a beating on the streets of Korea has gone viral. The Thai transgender woman named Kittikhun Sangtubtim was living in South Korea to study Korean. She recently wrote on her personal Facebook page warning fellow Thai women to be "very careful when traveling in Korea."

The incident which led Sangtubtim to write this post on Facebook occurred this past February 29. Sangtubtim was standing outside a restaurant with her friend when allegedly, a drunk Korean man staggered toward her and tried to make moves on her by repeatedly telling her, "I love you." Sangtubtim firmly refused the man's advances, informing him that she has a boyfriend and that she was not interested.

Sangtubtim wrote on her Facebook, "He thought I was a woman. He was really annoying. We started to insult each other."

Then the man allegedly started beating Sangtubtim. When you watch the video that was captured by a passerby, you see Sangtubtim sprawled on the floor and shrieking, "Mom!" over and over. Sangtubtim's friend jumped into the scuffle and started hitting the man, and another Korean man is seen trying to break off the fight. The person who is recording the scene can be overheard cursing "F*ck" repeatedly and explaining what happened to the other onlookers.

That same night, Sangtubtim, her friend, and the Korean man who had beat Sangtubtim were all taken to the police station. Sangtubtim added, "When the man learned that I was a transgender woman, he laughed."

The disabused Sangtubtim then concluded with, "The kind of Korean men you see on dramas don't exist. I really liked this country but now I feel afraid and paranoid. I want to warn the women who travel will be traveling without boyfriends. It's really dangerous."

then maybe you shouldn't fetishize korean men? they are just like men from any other country except they're korean

A thing to note, he didn't beat her because she's transgender, he beat her because she turned him down after he approached her. Still a vile and distusting thing to do. But it seems kinda unneccesary to include the "transgender" when it doesn't have anything to do with her being trans.

EDIT: I pisses me off that it took so long for someone to jump and help her, also why was that asshole just filming instead of helping her? This kinda stuff gets my blood running.

This guy sounds like the typical entitled asshole that thinks that every woman he hits on should give him the time of day and talk to him.

*Roll eyes*

What an ugly thing to say.

No he/she speaking the truth. That's what happen when you fetishize something or someone. It's not going to be some beautiful rainbow at the end. Most people have the same beliefs as her on these forums. I know there will be some bad and some good. But expecting all of them to be prince charming is rofl. Reality has set in for her sadly.

I hope she's alright now, men who can't take no for an answer and resort to violence deserve to be locked up. Hopefully she'll realize that this isn't a reflection of all Korean men and neither are dramas for that matter.

Right? The fact that their first response to a fight is "Lemme take out my phone and take a video of this man beating the shit out of her so I can upload it later!" is so idiotic. Go help her for god sake.

I am not talking about what happened to her, of course that was wrong and people should have helped i'm separating what she posted from the incident that happened. Why would she have to tell people that the guys in korea aren't like the ones in kdrama.. isn't that a given? are all the guys in the us going to be super nice and caring like the lead in titanic or that wallflower show? no. it's ridiculous to think that she went to korea because she thought korean men are like song joong ki and yoo ah in etc. it's just dumb.

of course i feel remorse for what happened to her but I am responding directly to what I quoted only.
