Lee Hi should make an American debut

Her new mini is really pretty, and her English sounds incredible, she has the perfect voice for a sort of indie pop/R&B project. I know it will never happen, but I think with her voice she could release a nice R&B album that would be a hit in the underground. Something like Eryn Allen Kane or Lianne La Havas.

too soon, too soon

she should continue promoting in Korea.

of course, there's no harm in releasing songs in English- it'll draw international fans.

(....err... well, English speaking international fans lol)

but promoting the US has always been a huge gamble for idols. I don't think Lee Hi could make it.

As I said, it will never happen - I'm still adamant that the only idols that could ever make a US debut with any chance of success are CL and Ailee if she was promoted right, but if Lee Hi could legit join a little indie agency and release an EP I feel like it could be an underground hit.

Well yeah she has more control over her voice (though CL's vocal tone will always be my favourite), but CL has much more mainstream appeal than Lee Hi.

Yup..not just control. She has clear and quite powerfull voice. Don't know with cl's though. But for me Lee Hi had a voice on par with int. stars. Its peculiar and not annoying and very pleasing.

Agree somewhat. But I think she has the potential to be big,not just in the underground. She can seriously debut in the States with the kind of music she's putting out now. Just translate her Seoulite songs into English and voila.

Her voice alone is good enough but if we're talking about music type, she definitely fits the bill in the US.

Her style right now plays along the lines of Birdy/Lilly Allen/Amy Winehouse/Corrine Bailey Rae/Lourde which makes a commercial US debut even more probable.

She can just feature in a Lourde single (since Lourde has signified before that she wants to work with Lee Hi) and she can seriously blow up.

I disagree. It takes more than vocal and musical talent to successfully debut in the U.S. It takes less most of the time actually. Hayi is missing the "something" it takes to be a U.S. artist though. Fame whorishness? Attention seekingness? I love how I make up words because I have early-onset Alzheimer's.
