The dates are a mixture of the Lunar calendar with, their birth years different (i.e. 1963 and 1964). The triangle on his right inner arm, means male, father, in tribute to his late father. He also has a gun tattoo on his right side, sizing from the top of his rib cage, down to his waist.

 

Pre - Debut

Hyunseung first gained public recognition by appearing on Big Bang Documentary, a show to choose the members of YG's upcoming boy group Big Bang. He was the last contestant eliminated from the show, as YG CEO Yang Hyunsuk felt that he was not ready to perform on stage. He eventually met future fellow band member Yang Yoseob, who convinced him to a join a newly opened entertainment company at the time, Cube Entertainment.

Debut and Sub - Units Solo

Hyunseung debuted with BEAST in October 2009. The group has released 9 Mini Albums (Including My Story), 2 Full Length Albums, 10 Singles (Including pre-releases), 9 OSTs, and 14 original Japanese Songs as of November 2015. He has also been a part of two sub - units, one with fellow member Lee Gikwang, and another with 4minute member Kim Hyuna.

Solo
On May 8th, 2015, Hyunseung debut as a solo artist. The Digital version of his album, titled simply as 'MY', dropped on the 8th, but started promotions on the 7th, at M!Countdown. His promotional length was 2 weeks, due to schedule conflicts, and when asked why only 2 weeks, he stated "I honestly wanted to do it longer, but schedule wise, it didn't fit. It wasn't easy because of BEAST concerts in Japan and different countries in Asia. It′s not too bad to show clean-cut performances for two weeks and then go." His album (CD) released on the 12th of May. His album ranked 4th in May on the Gaon chart, fluttered around the top 100 in the charts for his promotional time, but sadly never won #1 at music shows.

 

His title track, 'Ma First' Featuring the hot-topic rapper Giriboy, was a funky sound was thanks to the blend of powerful hip hop and trap beats, to be emphasize Hyunseung's smooth and unique vocals. It was produced by Black Eyed Philseung.

Departure from Beast

 

On April 19th, 2016, Jang Hyunseung decided to leave Beast due to "Music and Personality'" Differences. Cube announced he would continue as a solo artist. On July 24th, Hyunseung filmed for the new show 'Hit The Stage', which would be his first public appearance since his departure from Beast. The outcome of Trouble Maker is still unknown.
