It seems almost every new boy group to come out over the last few years are rooted in a "hip hop" concept. In a pool of groups that are almost identical, four in particular have gained a lot of traction during different periods of time and could be considered for the leader of the concept. They are also generally considered to have the best rap lines among other idol groups. While all of them delve into different concepts they are all inherently "hip hop" based groups.

I want to know who are the strongest in what areas because I think maybe all of them have qualities over each other that make it harder to weigh than one may assume.

Block B

Oldest group on the list, Block B debuted in 2011 under Stardom (now under Seven Seasons) and are arguably the dark horses. Off to a rocky and controversial start, Block B has risen after their lawsuit scandal with the help of Zico taking over the Korean hip hop scene with his work. While ignored for the most part internationally Block B started to pick up significant attention in Korea as a group following the success of Very Good in 2013 and H.E.R in 2014.

BAP

Arguably the least successful on the list, they debuted in 2012 under TS Entertainment. Originally apart of a "holy trinity" movement similar to the current NGG phase that included EXO and Nu'est battling over the trend. Unfortunately, bad management and repetitive production had them become stagnant before a lawsuit incident that put them on hiatus. They have managed to pick up the pieces bit by bit since then but have never truly recovered from their stagnation.

BTS

Arguably the most popular group on the list, they debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. While BTS has always had more attention than your average rookie group for their strong choreography and rap line, they started really picking up steam in 2014 and blew up last year. Currently one of the biggest idol trends both in Korea and Internationally, they are followed by a lot of controversy for what is perceived as overly obnoxious behavior by their fandom and members.

iKON

The newest groups on the list, they debuted in 2015 under YG Entertainment. Coming from a highly successful survival franchise and from the second biggest company in Korea, expectations from the group were very high. Similar to BTS, they have controversy following them for their fandom and member behavior. There is also much dispute by people on if they truly met up to the results that should be delivered from a YG product. Despite being rookies, the hype and company surrounding them alone is enough to warrant them included for comparison.

Note: You could argue that Big Bang should be included but we all know they're in a league of their own and the top dogs of every concept. :)

Rap: BTS/BAP

But Zico is the best among all of them, imo

Dance: BTS/BAP

Vocal: BAP has Daehyun so.....

Music: BTS/BAP

Success: BTS but BAP might've had a chance had it not been for the law suit

Forgot to add that iKON could be big if YG doesn't screw them up  :imstupid:

Best rap line is by far Block B imo. Best dance line is 100% BTS. B.A.P has a super solid vocal line, Daehyun and Youngjae are killer. As a Block B stan I have to say Block B has the best music. As for most successful in the long run, I would have to say Block B and or BTS. As much as i-fans love to underestimate the Block B, they really do well in Korea and BTS is constantly rising. I would say ikon too but YG's management is too unstable for me to say that they'll be they most successful.

This is like arguing white vs. beige vs. vanilla vs. cream: bland and indistinct.

not you dragging every single one of them nnnn

BTS will be the most successful and the best dancers, bap has the best vocal line

idk who can rap better between zico/kyung and rapmon/suga

Rap Line: Block B > BTS > BAP > Ikon

Dance Line: BAP/BTS > Ikon >>>>>>>>>>>>> Block B

Vocal Line: BAP >= Block B > BTS > Ikon

Long Term Success: This is indivisibly Block B(even if they're currently not the most popular). The rest are much newer.

I prefer BTS music the most. Block B tends to be way too experimental at times and a lot of BAP's music is really jarring. Ikon's too new.

if they are indistinct then why do you know that they are different colors despite the fact that they are similar

rap: no doubt it's block b

dance: went for bts but bap is a close second

vocal: bap

music: don't like the majority of songs by any of them. But I really liked some of block b's older stuff so went for them.

most successful in long run: block b because zico seems to be doing pretty well for himself

Rap: idk

Dance: not too sure since each group has good dancer (Jongup/Zelo,U-Kwon/B-Bomb,J-Hope/Jimin,not sure abt ikon but I heard they have great dancer so..)

Vocals: Daehyun/Taeil > Youngjae > B-Bomb/U-Kwon/

never paid attention on BTS and iKon's vocals sooo

as for music I prefer B.A.P > Blockb > Bts/iKon

as for success, all of them has a shot for fame with different reasons

B.A.P BTS and iKon has fandom power

BlockB doesnt really have as much but koreans practically licks all over Zico's hands everytime he releases a song (yet they will keep talk shit about the goddamn scandal every chance they got :imstupid: )

JJCC.. not really hip hop. Seventeen is pop based with hip hop subunit. But there is plenty of hip hop in term of boy groups.
