It's because of Western economics and monopolies that those regions have become so poor, and the rich countries in the region have completely closed their borders...the only reason we "can't sustain the immigrants" is because we want to put money in our pocket rather than spend it on these people coming here looking for work...it's because of xenophobia that the refugee crisis is such a problem...give them an education and a job and they'll be assimilated into society in no time. But no, we put them in tiny camps where they live in goddamn cardboard houses and barely have any food and yet we have the fucking nerve to say what a nuisance these refugees are I am embarrassed and ashamed to be an European seeing how inhumane and degrading we demand these refugees to be treated... These regions havent become poor, they were always poor. In fact theyve all got richer. The wealth gap between these places and the west has become greater. And yes that is down to western economics, which these places could replucate, like east asia has successfully done. However they have no will to do so and only seem to function under dictactorship which when removed as shown in the arab spring, the people elect a backwards islamic government and the people go to war over themselves all over again. They also have ridiculous birth rates, with no money to spend on providing for the population increase. On your point about giving these people a job, they are not suitable for the european job markets, which has moved heavily in the direction of a highly skilled and educated work force. Given the unemployment among europes youth currently, its fair to say that there are no jobs for them. We could educate them, even at a late age, yet they must be fed, housed and this education paid for. Given that europe is the welfare continent you have to consider how many of these economic migrants europe can provide for until the system becomes unsustainable. When you consider that africas population is to hit 4 billion before the end of the century and europes will decline, your plan for providing for those who migrate here illegally falls apart. Europe cannot provide for so many people. its impossible. This is all economics of course, we can have a whole different discussion about the social costs of taken the 3rd world in. I'm for taking actual refugees(not migrants), but only as many as we wish for and as we feel we can successfuly integrate. This is whole's world problem, not European. European countries are culturaly and emotionally as close to those people as Japan tbh. We should help people running from war, but there should be some boundaries that consider the feelings and financial capabilities of original population. Anything beyond that can work only temporarily.. We are trying really hard not to fuck up our own country...people barely have kids over here and people work hard to make things sustainable, but what good is it for, when you have to take responsibility for others who already failed at this? sasha 2,956 Posted March 5, 2016 Share Posted March 5, 2016 it's both heartwarming and moronic that some think these refugees/migrants will take to their culture and society and legal system in no time. but there are things called "humanitarian aid" and "you shouldn't have fucking meddled in political and social issues of other countries in the first place". and #EVERYBODYKNOWS people die and suffer in third world countries from causes that are easily prevented in first\second world but somehow wanting to grant a few the standard of life YOU deem worthy good and proper is humanly and kind and whatnot. get over yourselves and your ideas of life standard and your morals Europe and don't endanger your civilisation in hope of miraculously occurring acculturation processes. build some schools and hospitals for them, make some investments to create work places and leave them be.
