December of 2016 Idol Renaissance announced two new sister groups and a soloist would be added to SMA to expand their idol reach. 10 candidates were chosen as Kohosei after SMA's 2015 Teen Singing Competition: Rena, Suzuka, Sera, Tamaki, Haruka, Yuria, Moe, Tomoka, Yumeka, and Mayu. In January of 2016 Tamaki quit Kohosei to focus on school. During their trainging the girls were given trials such as singing contests and trivia. They were split into two teams. Team I and Team R. The teams performed at venues until May 4th, Idol Renaissances Tsutaya-O East concert, where they said their goodbyes as Kohosei. June 11 of 2016, Notomo Yumeka and Harada Suzuka were chosen to join Idol Renaissance, while the Idol Renaissance's sister group was announced; AIS. Miyamoto Marin was chosen as a temporary leader for the group as the rest of the Kohosei were placed in AIS. The group would focus on Idol songs released after the 21st century. The group released their first single August 8, 2016 at TIF2016, Doki! Kou iu no ga Koi na no? by Canaria Club.

On their Youtube channel, videos are posted almost daily of the background on-goings, such as concerts, trips, recording sessions, reactions to their own videos, blog pictures or just everyday activities.
The group shares a blog, and posts pictures frequently.

 

If Riko looks familiar, she went to ASH (Actor's School Hiroshima) with other idols like Sayashi Riho, Tani Yuri and Danbara Ruru.

She has also lent her voice to other bands.
