The Official Computer Problems/Advices Thread

I have a problem.

I have an old computer (3/4 years old) that I dumped him because he was having problems and shut himself down.

Now I opened it and I could iniciate him but now I can't enter because I don't know my password. I change passwords frequently so I don't remember it. I don't care if I lose everything I just want to open it.

How can I do guys? Anything I do it

If it's Windows you can use a Ubuntu Live CD.

Ubuntu is a free Linux based OS. You can download it here: http://www.ubuntu.com/

I assume what you're trying to do is to salvage some old files from your busted PC. In order to do that you can burn an Ubuntu ISO to a CD and run Ubuntu as bootable OS from the CD (Ithink instructions are on the Ubunut website). That should enable you to do bypass the Windows security and copy your files to a USB Stick or external HDD.

-Get a usb
-Install konboot on that usb
-Let your pc boot with konboot
-Press enter when it asks to login
-It logs in without having to use a password

i don't know if this is the right place to ask... but i dloaded a video file which size is 10.8 gb.. there was another file but same video and it was 2.86 gb that my friend dloaded...we compared and the video quality is on par with each other...why is the smaller file size quality the same as my huge file size? this was something i was just really curious about.

you mean disk D: right?
and sure you can do that. dont do it with programs tho they are already installed on the C: disk.
Or you need to delete programms and reinstall them on the D: disk.
you can transfer videos and pictures etc etc tho. just drag them over.

so you deleted every virus/malware that you found? Edited by TaeYuSu

When you are in that menu (f2) go to the BOOT tab and make sure that your hard drive is on the number 1 spot.

What is the best tablet as of now?

My first instinct would be to say the Galaxy Tab series. If it's the same quality as the Galaxy smartphones then that would be on my shortlist. But I also have my eye of the Asus Transformer tablets, the idea of having a tablet which can easily click into a physical keyboard just appeals to me.

I want it from my dad since it would be easy for him and the type a work he does. I just don't know which one to buy.
