I don't wanna spend a ridiculous amount.  I wanna say that I don't wanna exceed 500 USD.

We do use the desktop for gaming.  Don't know if it'd be considered hardcore.  We've got The Sims 2 and some extensions for it.  So a desktop that could accommodate those type of games would be nice.

Is that good or do I need provide more info?

i have this one AMD X4 II 965 3,4ghz its arround 90$ - 140$
But yeah intel is better but also more expensive, an i3 with 3,3ghz 110$ - 150$
an i3 with 3,4ghz 130$ - 180$
an i5 with 3ghz 170$ - 220$

but yeah if you only play sims and those kinds of games you can go even cheaper on the cpu.

I'm having an issue with my wi-fi and PS3/other gadgets..

Before, my PS3 can connect to my wi-fi with no problems...but nowadays it can't even get an IP address wtf

And my laptop too... I can connect but every now and then the internet would drop and I either have to wait a few minutes or take it out of the socket and connect it again.

What could be the problem? The router or the modem? :< The router's about..... 3~5 years old already.

trying to restore my brothers laptop back to factory settings and wipe out everything for him but having trouble. He doesn't have a recovery cd so i looked it up and found a way to do it without it until i found out it doesn't have a recovery drive on it, meaning C: drive only. What are my options now?

I'm thinking the only thing i can do is dl windows, burn it, then reinstall it from there...or buy a recovery disc. But i wanted to ask first.

hmmm if the recovery partion is gone youll need a windows cd or recovery cd yes but if u you use a windows cd youll have to probably find all the drivers and stuff yourself which may take a while..

rather weird question, but how can one of my laptop can connect the wifi and get a stable internet connection while the other get "no internet connection" while connected to the same wifi network (plus the signal keep dropping in this laptop). I have been using both and usually it's no problem.

any idea why?

any idea why?

it maybe because of some settings in the router.
it is password protected so yes with what encryption?
do you live in a high populated neighbourhood with alot of routers? you may want to switch the routers channel.
try turning it off and waiting 30 sec and turning it on again.
what router do u have btw

You could try to check how many people in your neighbourhood are using the same channel
With this program for example : http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

If there are alot on the same channel you can change yours here
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071202104105AALaORm

i also had problems with my linksys router a few days ago with my samsung galaxy s4
the internet kept dropping after like 1 minute and i had to reconnect my s4 to the wifi again which was annoying af.
i eventually solved this by disabling wmm mode, forgetting the network and changing the encryption type to TKIP instead of AES & TKIP.
but its a known problem with S4s so i dont think this will help you.

what linksys router do you have btw

did you try using that laptop on another wifi? maybe its the laptop Edited by TaeYuSu
