so I think I figured out the problem. I'm pretty sure it has to do with other browsers... It freezes if I download and use firefox or google chrome. Still don't know why that is though, hm.. I'm using Microsoft edge as the default browser.

you've run your scans & updates? where did you purchase from? it sounds like there might've been bloatware that's incompatible with... something on your laptop. especially since the native os works fine for you in safe mode.

Yeah I think you're right. When I was in safe mode, I uninstalled those two browsers and now it's working perfect. I bought it at best buy. and I have to still run a scan, so we'll see.

best buy should be ok. other than their refurbished section which depends on the shop.

yeah try your scans & see if there's any malware.

if not, you can ask them to clear up what's wrong since usually your laptop should be able to run both browsers, at the same time. lucks!

yeah I bought it new too, so I was angry it stopped working like that. IKR. it should be able to run both browsers, so I think i'll take it to get looked at still. thanks! hope nothing too bad is wrong with it.

well :S yeah if you find any other particular issues after, i'm sure whoever's around will help out.

since it's so similar to your 1st laptop's malfunction, 1st thing you check could be any items/programs you loaded from your old laptop or you added to the laptop between the time you bought it to the time it blinked out.

you'll fix it =)

yeah... it keeps loading the logo at start up and just goes black.. and then it does that over and over... I thought I fixed it... fuck

okay definitely sounds like a virus. have you tried taking out the battery, leaving it to cool for 30secs then putting in & start again?

what happened the last time you turned the PC off?

did you DL any programs onto you PC in safe mode?

You tried booting up into the advance settings and try to format your entire laptop? Like S2Sky said it really does sound like a virus.  If that doesn't work send it back to the manufacture, your laptop  should still be under warranty (I believe since it's only been a month). Because if the format does not work; the virus could have gone into your  bios which could be the root problem of it

Yes I tried to take the battery out and the only things I download are kpop stuff and things for my class assignments. I did do a scan before it stopped working, and it said there's a bunch of corrupted files... There's this reset button on the side I pressed and basically it reset my computer to the original format... and now it's working.... but I don't know how long it will last lol. If something happens to it one more time, I'm def going to take it back to best buy and see what's wrong.

oH, also a thing came up saying I need to have 5 windows updates and so I clicked update, but... it said there was a problem trying to install the updates... I don't know..

As long as it is working fine than I don't think there's any prolbem with it unless it's just memory issues?

Can you try and troubleshoot your windows update? Or even delete your update patch and redownload them and install?

How do I do that... Lol

I tried all the troubleshoot options from reset to system recover to fix start up problems. Ugh I just want it to be fixed, it's making me so mad. I don't know If there's any memory issues, i'll try to look on youtube for fixes too. It seems like there's other people having the 'freezing' problem too... so idk. I'm just too lazy to take it to get it fixed, I want to see if I can fix it myself first... I just hope I don't mess it up more lol

If troubleshooting doesn't work than can you delete the update from your system and download it again?

  • 2 weeks later...

Okay, so, I kinda have a problem.

I feel like my NVIDIA graphics card runs like shit.

I used to get like 100+ fps when i would play TS4, but now i get around like 30-50 & i would get really nice stable game play for gta.

I'm so confused, I don't think it's even been a year yet. my intel card runs the game better, but i don't want to run it on that one.

my intel card also runs ts3 better....which is very surprising.

At one point in time, i was able to play gta on my pc, but i can't because my nvidia card has gone to shit.

is it on a laptop? and you mean that there is a dedicated nvidia card and a integral intel card? if so u could check if its actually using the dedicated card? You can check it with 'dxdiag'  to be sure. (you can type it in menu/search, like cmd) and what is your GPU / CPU / RAM / Motherboard? And are u using any additional screens?

it also could be a power supply issue, or maybe power management options, that is set to 'save battery' or something. it could make a difference. And also how is the temperature of the computer? If it gets too hot it may use internal settings to downgrade everything to not overheat.

if u recently installed any new programs, it might be due to that that is taking up all your RAM or something, or how much is running at the same time, it's hard to say with so little info, it could be anything at this point.

I have a laptop.

yes, that's what i mean!

I only use 1 screen.

When I game, i set my battery to high performance.

my device can get pretty hot(when i game), but it has a button speed up the fan whenever i need to cool it down.

When i would run it on my nvidia card, i'd check and it'd be using it. idk why its so shitty.

I wiped my laptop last week & i still have the same problem ;__;

hmm strange.. It may be some sort of driver issue. Do you have the latest Nvidia drivers for your GPU? (or if you updated drivers, maybe rollback to the previous ones?)

also what are your CPU clockspeeds? Does it go up when u are gaming? (or does it, say, stay below (@1.00GHz)? I heard sometimes the cpu can't reach their full speed due to outdated/unsupported drivers. My best guess at this point is that is could be a driver issue.

also, are u running the game in windowed mode by any chance?

OK check your graphic device and drivers also can you tell us what your laptop model is both the model and manufacutre. It could be your graphic driver. it could also be your Nvida control pannel. Both of these factors may have an affect on your system (at least that what I had before).

I updated all of my drivers a few days ago :/ no windowed mode. I'm not exactly sure, but i think the last time i played, it stayed below 1.00GHZ. I will come back to confirm!

y'all are helping me so much, thank you!! I really appreciate it. ;___; I really don't want my laptop to go to waste, i paid so much for it.

Just asking. You mention that you play GTA decent but did you see any fame rate drops? It could be the game problem. Any other gamsa you saw dropping in terms of fps? I do a graphic card driver roll back like what Miyami stated before to check. But otherwise I'm guessing it could be the game fault.

Don't update your drivers it would just create the problem again I believe. Just roll back and try to play the game. If you can than is the driver problem
