Yes, Album sales are more important.

Digital sales + Streaming will NEVER be more important than Album sales. NEVER. A collective body of work selling physical copies is more prestigious & more profitable than a single being downloaded for 20 cents.

It's not even like in America where a digital single is at 1.29 USD.

Adele's pure album sales are probably making 10x more than what Rihanna is making with her Tidal & Free release of ANTI.

Bigbang is not the rule. Bigbang is the exception to the rule.

Super Junior, Shinwa, TVXQ, all of these groups stay relevant due to the fact that they have steady album sales, a dedicated fandom that will buy their albums and it makes them money.

- MissA

- SISTAR (even though I love them)

- 4minute (As you can see with HATE)

- KARA OT4

- MAMAMOO

Newer groups like Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, and even Girl's Day & 2NE1.

All of the groups are fucked if they don't release chart topping singles because their album sales can't save them.

So instead of the general public buying and appreciating an entire body of work, true success is shown by the general public pressing play a few times to stream 1 or 2 singles before moving on to the next trending single...

And Big Bang sells singles AND albums. Without those album sales, YG has less market share and profit.
