Yes it is. Just as good and half the price. If it supports the LTE bands of where I live, this will most likely be my next phone. Was going for LG G5 at first but back then I wasn't considering the Mi5 as an option

Yeah I know, but there's lots of confusion about which LTE bands are supported atm. Some sources say certain lte bands are supported while others say something different.

This is actually where the confusion stems from. This isn't an official Xiaomi forum apparently, but lots of websites reviewing the phone have been citing them as a source 

It is the official forum. But I just checked that it will only be launched at Xiaomi's core markets - namely China, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and probably, Brazil.
