Conflict between the original writer of “Cheese in the Trap†and the drama staff has risen to the surface.

Although “Cheese in the Trap†started off with great anticipation, viewers, the original author, and managing agencies are showing their dissatisfaction with the plotline of the latter half.

On February 24, the original author Soonkki opened up about the drama on her blog.

“I wanted the drama to have an entirely different feel from the comics because they are built on different types of media. However, the actual drama failed in doing so, being hailed as ‘true to the original,’†she said. “They never contacted me, so I had no idea that they were going to film the drama to exactly follow the comics.â€

Though Soonkki admitted that she couldn’t have too much say in the drama, as it is the result of a lot of people’s hard word, she said it wasn’t until she adamantly complained that she even got the scenario for the drama’s plot after episode six. She also said the first time they contacted her after filming was regarding the ending. When she heard that the ending would be similar to the original comic, which was different from what she had requested, she also asked for them to change it as well.

She also showed her discomfort with the staff’s use of the word “Chee-mother,†which is a term targeted at the hard-core fans of the comics, when advertising the drama. “Chi-mother†sounds very similar to the Korean word for “mother-in-law,†which can be seen as having a negative connotation.

Park Hae Jin’s managing agency W Company also indirectly expressed their dissatisfaction through their official Instagram on February 23 and 24, leaving captions such as, “The filming set, which is an actor’s second home, should be holy. A drama can’t be a place for only one person,†“Jung~ Where are you. Can you hear me?â€, and “The weight of a script. Its value is infinitive.â€

Several fans have shown their dissatisfaction with how an episode that originally centered on Yoo Jung and Hong Sul has been changed to focus on Beak In Ho and Hong Sul, and that the plotline is focused on Baek In Ho’s background without concentrations on Yoo Jung’s emotions.

Though “Cheese in the Trap†started off with a rating of 3.59 percent on January 4 and reached 7.10 percent on episode nine, it has dropped since then and currently lingers around five to six percent.

The drama’s production staff has since stated, “We are currently trying to contact Soonkki in order to discuss [the drama] with her.â€

It's kinda funny that the author is complaining about it being too similar to the comics, while fans are complaining it's straying too far, seems like the production staff are kinda boned.

Soonki stated that, "I told them how I would end the web comic. But seeing that the drama will end much quicker than my web comic, I requested them to come up with a different ending, so that it would not become a spoiler for my readers. But they failed to do this.â€

WHAT KINDA FAILED IS THAT? ISIT THE DRAMA WONT HAVE A DIFF ENDING?  :derp:

I dunno so much about it, but if the web author of the story is still developing it, but gave the ending to the producers, and the producers end the drama before the web serie and put the original end, then is fcked up, they ruined her work

Yeah they're screwed either way lol if they changed it more then fans would complain even more.

I wonder if they ended up changing the ending, like she requested. I personally don't mind being spoiled for the webtoon ending but that's her work so

Deal with it. Endless circling around Jung and Hong Seol sure wouldn't be a good idea. They can't accept that their fave isn't in every episode? He's not the main character, anyway,  Hong Seol is, and having episodes explore pther characters is standard fare in tv fiction.

Yeah and what happened to Hong Seol? She suddenly had a personality transplant? What happened to her character development? Nothing. Never mind Jung, he's just a cameo anyway. The story should center around Seol, instead she's become a side character to move the plot for the Baek Inho Show.

Things that different from CCIT webtoon are Baek In Ha personality and Baek In Ho Show.

I don't know that the drama supposed to be different from webtoon. When viewer wants it to be similar to webtoon. Like what's the point if the drama isn't the same as webtoon?

I understand if original writer doesn't the same ending but the rest is.. :imstupid:

Anyway, I worry if Soonkki has to change her ending, I mean I don't want her to ruin her works. I love the webtoon.

you know the people complaining are fans of the original webtoon and are pissed that so much of Jung's scenes are deleted or given to In Ho, right? For example I heard in the webtoon it was Jung who came to Seol's rescue when she confonted him about the stolen notes, but they substituted In Ho in place of him in the drama.

You're so true, theres many things happen in drama got twisted,

Especially bout the preview Ep15

What in da world CITT!? I saw the preview and literally laughed out loud because the car accident scene is so not 'citt-ish' that it seems laughable. Then I started yelling at the screen and it has been a vast array of emotions since then. I am upset for a variety of reasons:

1. obviously the car accident=makjang

2. the car accident involves Inha? Gosh, this really upsets me. Is this really what they're going to use to bring her to her senses. Something this drastic is what has to happen for her to break down? Its just...there was so much they could do with her character. She had depth and we were given glimpses of it but that was it. Heck I know she has issues but why make her out to be such a bad person. This isn't Inha....sigh

3. Was is it with the idea of 'do wrong to others and its gonna come bite you in the rear end one day?' Is this really how we're going to get to Jung and make him realize he has to let some things go? I don't know how keen I am of the idea. I wanted Jung to simply learn how to let stuff go sometimes, with the help of Seol. She doesn't need to change him nor 'save' him but she can teach him sometimes its best to get out of other's business even if they've wronged you. For his sake. Idk, they might convince me its the way to go with Jung's development but until I watch the episode I feel uneasy.

4. I think one of my biggest fears is that the drama will forget the hand incident and never mention it again or be really vague about it. I thought we were going to have a lot of Jung×Inho development after episode 12 but so far we've gotten close to nothing. The dynamics between these two guys are my favorite things after Jung×Seol, so I'm bummed. Two episodes is not enough time to finish off everything we still have hanging + all the new elements they've added.

5. Jung's dad...oh Jung's dad. I don't understand him. First, he tells Inha that 'from now on he'll ask Jung himself,' and that implied to me that he didn't want Inha reporting on Jung anymore. He seemed irritated by Inha. But then we see how he's being played by Inha and subsequently tells Jung to break up with Seol. What? Does this inconsistency have to do with the cut scenes? I know @qwenli mentioned that a Jung×dad conversation got cut. It's probably that screenshot from that netizenbuzz article. And now I'm sad again...

6. Jung, please no noble idiocy. Seol wants to be with you. Come on.

Oh and just to end my long post. I gotta say I feel bad for the CITT cast overall (especially PHJ). They worked hard to put this together and its gone down in quality. Its done a disservice to all of our main characters: Jung, Seol, Inho, Inha. Jung was a gold-mine character-wise and they didn't delve into his layers. Seol and Inho's characters suffered because of the love triangle. Inho could have had so much depth and I was excited to see him grow but it all went in the wrong direction. Inha also had depth hidden in there but idek what their goal is with her character.

Obviously I liked some characters more than others but they each had their arc that was explored. We lost the opportunity to see the expected growth in these four people and its upsetting.

the drama kinda lost its charm. inho is cute and whatever but people tuned in because they were interested in Jung's ambiguous personality and "is he or is he not a psychopath" charm. Now it's just about a guy who screwed his life over because of a misunderstanding and now trying to set it straight because he met a nice girl who warm his heart. I mean it's a great storyline by itself, but it's not why some people tuned in for this drama. If they want to make a drama out of Inho's life story, they should have give it a different name and not advertising it's as CIIT.
