[Even after] leaving the phantoms of red dust[1] far behind,
It is difficult to forget your clear bright smile.
Last night, in the small building, sought after the old dream
[Where] I lived however I pleased [through] the predestined love of a sword-wielding knight-errant.

[No matter] how many times flowers blossom and wither,
The sons and daughters of [this] land are sentimental.
Facing the mirror, the girl has just matured [into a young lady].
The strands of black hair between [her] fingers sever the cool breeze.

From now on,
[i'll] no longer care for how thick and rich love is in the world of mortals.
only wish, only wish to have you through [my] entire life.
The glint of blades and the shadow of swords[2] accompany [us on our] journey.
There is more tenderness than what can drink up.

Many years later,
Pray tell, [how were things] back then when had just woken from the dream,
[And I] hearkened to the love of the sword-wielding knight-errant, the predestined love of the sword-wielding knight-errant.
Things [that happen] in dreams cannot be taken for what's real.
Turning [my] head and looking back, see that the setting sun is strong and vivid.

T/N:

[1] 红尘 (lit. red dust) is a metaphor for the ordinary world of mankind. When horses and carriages passed over the unpaved earthen roads in the olden days, dust would rise. These 'roads' represented the figurative roads to fame and fortune that the common man pursues.

[2] 刀光剑影 (lit. light of single-edged blade, shadow of double-edged sword) is a metaphor for heated combat.
