Could the fact that the Kpop fanbase mainly being female be the reason why cute concept and sexy concept girl groups get so much hate?

I think it is possibly the case. Anytime a girl group does a cute concept, there are some that complain. Anytime a girl group does a sexy concept, there are some that complain. And some Kpop fans keep saying that these concepts are overused. (idk what these types of fans want after that, but....)

But whenever a guy group does the badboy or gentleman concept (which is done just as much as the cute and sexy concept for girl groups) there are no complaints.

I feel that is likely the reason why, especially amoung international Kpop fans.

partly. but a good amount of international fans that are guys (who like girls) are bored or put off by sexy gg concepts too. either that or they ignore the songs and focus only on the visuals. it's all virgin-whore complex stuff where women's sexuality isn't appreciated the same way as a man's. weird.

I know more guys who are put off by cute concepts, they all like sexy concepts.

I prefer sexy concepts more than cute concepts too.

Yes, definitly agree with you, and it's pretty sad, because girl groups release songs just as good as boy groups, regardless of the concept. That's why i don't really care about concepts, if i like the song, i will listen the shit out of it.

Regardless of the concept

Most int fanboys are not put off by sexy concepts. Where would you even get that from?

To answer the OP: Girls are intimidated by other girls, which turns into hate.

That is true.

Personally speaking, though, I would love if girl groups explored other concepts. It's as if cute or sexy is the only way to go when there are just so many things you can do. You don't even have to have a 'concept', just good music and that's enough. The only groups I've come across that at least try to do just that are Oh My Girl with Closer and The Ark, and unfortunately they're not even popular.

Same for guys, the badass or rich gentlemen concepts get overdone. I actually like their cute concepts though because at least it gives off the boy next door feel which is a lot easier to swallow (and no dirty pun intended).

I also sometimes feel that boy groups do a lot more exploration than girl groups do.

never said most. some guys are real picky about "too sexy" vs "classy-sexy", as if it really makes a difference in the end. but it's slightly OT so i'll leave it there

oh please  boy groups get complaints as well about rehashing the same concepts over and over again, like when monsta x debuted people were writing them off as another tryhard wannabe hiphop group...

I think its more to do with the fact, that women's sexuality is not treated the same as a mans. Remember, we're the ones that get slut shamed for even wearing certain clothes. I don't really think the majority are necessarily jealous, because fangirls spend most of their time on paying attention to male groups to seriously care what the girls do so much.

Also netizens seem to be a lot more harsher towards female idols in general too. I feel like they are not given as much freedom to what they want in terms of concepts, because most do not have the huge and stable fanbases like the male idols, so they need to find something to appeal to the general public. Thats why you see either cute and sexy concepts.

I feel like y'all use the cute and sexy concept for anything. Most of the newer generation groups such as Twice, Red Velvet, and Mamamoo are in between they aren't cutesy like Gfriend/Lovelyz but aren't as sexy as say Stellar or maybe Sistar.

Yes it's definitely because it's females and anyone who is denying this is out of there mind. Why do you think females are always getting the harsher side when it comes to dating scandals,???

Yea, but only very very few of them, I think. Im one of them.

I dont know, its not like I dont enjoy sexy concept at all, but the more I see it, the more Im questioning why I got into kpop in the first place. Is sexy concept really needed? Is this what I want to see from kpop gg?

Something like that. Im not really a fan of cute concept either. I prefer mature concept but not too sexy, thats all.

Again, theres only very few guys who feel the same like me. Most of them liking sexy concept, be it kfans or ifans

On topic:

Yea maybe that is part of the reason.

Could be jealousy, or some other things.

Some asian females still have conservative mindset. Or maybe they just dont like the idea that kpop GGs selling their image (be it sexy or cute) more than the song, just to attract fanboys
