Do you think it's still alright for me to change my program?

I'm currently taking BS in Computer Science and you know those moments where you just had a one to one talk with yourself, it's like I'm not for CS anymore. I'm just trying to force myself to take it.

I'm really interested in Psychiatry for a long time already but back then it was just a hobby for me (Randomly research about why some people tends to think like that etc) though now, I find myself wanting to go to that path. Probably gonna take psychology as an undergrad.

I'll be 18 this year and if I did change my program, 1 year will be wasted and I'm kind of worried about that  :rlytearpls:

OH people help?

I think even if it means losing one more year, it's better for you to do what you like, so that you will live a happier future where you wont be stuck doing something that you don't like.

Or is it okay to do a double major or something like that?

Ask yourself what's really good for youself!

Are you in the U.S.? It's hard to get a job with a psychology degree. You have to go get a PhD to even have a shot at a job, as I knew some unemployed people with a masters degree in psychology.

It will be much more waste if you'll reach your last few years in Comp Sci and you'll feel so lazy in studying coz you don't like it anyway that eventually lead up in probably failing.

Take what you really wanted. At least you'll have this drive of studying because you are interested in what you are taking.

same for me

im stuck between med and architecture x.x

I'm laughing right now because Architecture and CS were what really bothers me before I enter college XD

I've thought about that but I don't think I can afford to take a double major. CS is quite challenging on its own already. I

years are never wasted

btw what is wrong about changing for something you actually like ? i think you should do it

Graduating at the age of 22-24 is still fine??

Nope I'm not in the US. but from what I've researched a lot take psychology for their undergrad then go get their MD...

if you have the resources then why not. i met lots of people (including myself) who's not able to change our programs bc of money or lack thereof and pressures from parents. do what makes you happy, that's what most important. and oh, one year is nothing really op. i'd give up a year, a two or three even if i have the opportunity and resources to change my program.

Being late 1 year is better than wasting your life forcing yourself to do something you don't like

And I don't see 1 year a big deal

My friend studied Medicine for 4 years but she didn't find herself into it and now she is studying finance

She is really different now she is bright and happy and she says it's the best decision I have ever made

It is something you gonna live your life with don't make one year ruin it

  • 2 weeks later...

same situation right here. i'm a 2nd year math major right now but since i cant find any field that i might enjoy with this degree i might want to shift to an engineering course. or maybe take up engineering as my second degree.

Better now than never. One year vs. 4 years wasted, man.

yes. you can go follow what you're passionate about but it can be a waste of time and money

Choose the course with more job vacancies. If both of the sectors provide jobs in the future, then choose the course based on your passion =) So that you'll be more sincere and willing to learn the subjects and work in the future c:
