My thoughts on: The Heirs; Reply 1994; Secret; Marry Him if you dare

Recommended Posts

The Heirs:

It is honestly the most tedious kdrama in existence. I stopped watching it altogether after barely finishing off ep.4 also whilst watching every episode I skipped so many parts because I was being bored to death I felt like my life was being sucked out. Reasons why I don't like it:

  • Annoying lead characters
  • I can already predict what's going to happen
  • Storyline is disgustingly boring, it's so cliche. Not the love triangle itself but the the whole drama on the plate

Reasons why I thought it was going to be good:

  • Woobin
  • Minhyuk
  • Lee Minho
  • also the other eye candy

Reply 1994

I really thought I would hate this drama because more times than I can count have I tried to watch Reply 1997 and I just couldn't bring myself to finish even one episode so I stopped. I didn't like the cast of Reply 1994 to start off with but now they all play their roles beautifully, this drama has really surprised me.

Secret: This drama reminds me of the male version of Queen of Ambition. I really enjoyed Queen of Ambition and I really enjoy this drama too, even though things may seem fast paced, I'm loving every moment of it! Two bad guys, one jealous girl, one soon-to-be-heartbroken girl, one dead pregnant girl. Loving itttttttt :ahmagah: Plus Ji Sung makes every minute better!

MARRY HIM IF YOU DARE:

#fave Just everything about it is perfect, idk where to begin with this drama.

The storyline is so fresh and original and it's really funny tbh.

Good visuals and some of my favourite actors/actresses of all time are in it, watch it, it's flaw free.

The Heirs: Very cliche; don't like the main leads. Only things I like about it is Woo Bin's character and Rachel.

Reply 1994: Great acting, great plot, my favorite drama atm

Marry Him If You Dare: Hilarious, great plot, love all the characters

I haven't watched Secrets yet.

I think the reason why I'm not enjoying The Heirs and Reply1994 as much is because they're just remakes/sequels (Let's be honest here, The Heirs is simpy BOF 2.0), and the plot line is not something exciting, fresh, or even memorable.

And the only redeeming quality of these two dramas are some of the side characters/second leads.

However, for what it is, Reply 1994 and The Heirs are alright I think.

Secret is the best.

I agree

For a melodrama, Secret is fast paced, intriguing, and gets you really involved in each of the character's lives, which is great.

So far Heirs is only good cause of Kim Woo Bin

Secret I didnt like as much in the beginning, but its grown on me over time and now its one of my favorites.

And since I never got around to watching reply 1997, I went into the 1994 one without any expectations and its been really great so far.

Mirae's choice is really great so far as well, except ep 5 was kinda draggy. Overall its really cute, fresh and funny,

Heirs: the plot is ridiculous and stupid with pretty mediocre acting all around, but it's crack. I'm there for the pretty. I fast forward through about 40% of it, but still want to see what happens...reminds me so much of watching gossip girl.

Reply 1994: good writing, good acting. it's not blowing my mind, but it's solid all around. The pace could be faster, but i'm enjoying the moments. While Reply 1997 was kind of all about Shiwon + Eunji nailing the role - actually, props to the entire cast and chemistry though.. Reply 1994 is allllll about Trash oppa/Jung Woo for me - he's amazing! Go Ara is decent (so one-dimensional but plays that one dimension well), but she/her character is being definitely outshined by Jung Woo's awesome acting.

The Heirs:

I'm not satisfied with it. It's just like another story about a rich man and a poor woman and then they will leave happily ever and after... (that's what I think for now)

Reply 1994:

I haven't watched it yet... I will watch it in the future.

Secret:

This drama is my my fav drama of 2013. It has it all great cast, great acting and great plot!

It has something special that attracted me the first time that I watched it.

Marry Him If You Dare:

I love it!- that's all I can say.

HEIRS: really boring and cliche at the beginning, now its still preditable, but i must say i LOVE the relationship between Cha Eun Sang and Young Do!!! especially young do, he is a bad guy but has a soft spot for her.

also i think the actress who is portraying Rachel acts so well!!! she is one of the best actresses in this drama.

Lee Min Ho is ok, but, am i the only one who thinks he looks kind of.. dead in this drama??? like his eyes have no emotion at ALL and his expressions look all the same. i feel like he does not enjoy filming this drama.

MARRY HIM IF YOU DARE: Was really fresh and funny at the beginning, now it is getting boring. and we all know that Mi Rae will end up with Kim Shin. Its hella predictable as well. The most annoying character is Future Mi Rae. Like... STOP making hints and just tell what happened/will happen!!!

Heirs: boring as f, I had some hopes it would at least have entertaining banter like Secret Garden (which I actually didn't like but at least enjoyed at first) but everything is so dull and random.

Reply 1994: it's ok but it feels too recycled. like the writers etc. just wanted more money and didn't even try to make it slightly different to 1997.

Secret: I wasn't even planning to watch it but after so many good comments I gave it a try, i like it a lot and I like that the heroine, although a noble idiot, isn't portrayed as some goody two shoes who does good things for the heck of it, you can actually see why she did what she did. I'm glad this was the one to become the mania drama.

Marry Him If You Dare: Also didn't plan to watch, but I'm enjoying it a lot. It's been a while since I watched a nice, fluffy rom-com.

So for me its:

Secret>>MHIYD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Reply 1994>>>>the wall you can't climb over  :hurr: >>>>>The Heirs.

Yeah he's been like that for a while... he was the same in Faith imo, a zombie for the 8 episodes I watched. That drama was actually the one that took away my fangirl glasses, I used to think he was a great actor but now not so much. He really does seem like he doesn't even try. But I think he has a movie on the works, maybe it'll be different there.

Also agree with you about Future Mi Rae. She's so annoying ughh.

Heirs: Cliche, boring, kind of slow. NO CHEMISTRY between the two leads (._____.) I decided to watch Heirs because of all the eye candy and also because I can only watch one drama at a time (SCHOOL T_T) I'm not gonna drop it since I'm watching it for the secondary couple and other secondary characters.

AND why does the director need to linger on LMH's and PSH's faces for 15 more seconds ............

Heirs

Heirs is terribad, the plot is cliche and cheesy, the relationship lines are a mess, the drama is so dull especially the chemistry of the main leads. I have dropped watching it on ep 9, can't bring myself to continue anymore. What an overhyped and overrated drama. Secret Garden is definitely better than this.

Marry Him If You Dare

The plot is refreshing and kinda new, the story is kinda unpredictable, no awkward acting. It's funny and there are some moral elements in it as well. It's my most favorite drama in this current batch, I love it so far.

Another reason why I love this drama is this drama has a potential to go deeper than just being a rom-com, like character growth and development and giving moral/life lessons for us.

Medical Top Team

This drama is so boring. This drama is 70% power struggle & the story of characters and 30% medical stuffs. There are some moments I think the medical stuffs are kinda dull as well (I'm interested in the medical stuffs more). This drama fails to generate more interest out of me since it's so boring, so I dropped it. No wonder the rating of this drama keeps dropping, tho I feel bad for the casts.

Oh really? i haven't watched faith :D didn't look interesting enough.  yeah exactly, i loved his acting in BOF and City Hunter, but he seems to be sad, lazy, depressed maybe? idk...

Heirs: Dropped it. No chemistry between the leads and messy storyline.

Reply 1994: I have yet to watch it. I enjoyed Reply 1997 so I'm optimistic about this one

Secret: People say it's good. Sadly, I don't have much time to watch dramas. :(

MHIYD: So far, it's an entertaining show. The lead romance hasn't gripped me as much as Master's Sun did but I still like it. And I love Yoo Kyung.
